If you want to earn money blogging in a scalable, long-term way, you need to be very proactive. This means writing a lot.
Personally, I dedicate an average of 10 to 15 hours to writing for my blog each week. If I could write more, I would. It takes a bit of sacrifice, and because I've learned over the years that my best thinking comes in the morning, I often get up at 5 a.m. to put a few hours into writing before moving on to my remote work tasks.

Well, the answer to this question depends on how to you earn money with your blog and what your conversion rate is for each channel.

Of course, you won't know your conversion rates just yet, but once you start selling a product, launching your freelance services, launching an online course, or reaching out to advertisers for blog sponsorships, you you can calculate your conversion rates fairly quickly.
Here is a quick example of increasing your conversion rate when selling your own product — an online course — from your blog.
Let's say you have 1,000 readers per month. If 2% of those readers become paying customers for your online course, that's 20 buyers. If your product costs $10, that's only $200. However, if your course costs $100, you've just made your first $2,000.
Now you can also look at this in a much simpler way.
- Less readers = less sales
- More readers = more sales
At the same time, you need to work on adjustments to increase your conversion rate over time, and you also need to play with your pricing to increase average customer value.

Alternatively, to get an idea of how your site is performing, you can take your total blog revenue for a given date range, and divide that by the amount of revenue you generated during that same time period — which will give you the average value (in your currency) for each individual reader of your blog.

And what I can tell you is that these twelve best ways to make money blogging (which I have personally done and succeeded at) have helped me turn this blog into a source of monthly income.

The first general topic we are going to cover in this guide is get paid for your content This is the easiest and fastest way to start monetizing your blog. Of course, that's also why you see so many bloggers pursuing this monetization channel.
The important thing here is to stay true to your blog, your expertise, and to keep your target audience at the forefront of everything you create.

Sponsored content is a proven investment for brands of all kinds, and it works wonders in the right scenarios. So how do you get sponsored? If you run a popular, high-traffic blog, you may already have sponsorship opportunities flooding your inbox. If that doesn't sound like your current situation, let's talk about what it takes to get sponsored content offers.
To get started, identify a handful of products and their companies that fit your niche perfectly.
Often, you'll find that these are products or services you already use yourself. Make a list of at least 10 products you'd like to promote and passionately support.
Next comes the most difficult part, and it's not that difficult (I promise).
Access the websites of your top 10 products and find someone who works in marketing or public relations at the company, and search for their email address using simple blogging tools like Hunter ou Voila Norbert Keep in mind that many companies open to referrals actively advertise a referral email address somewhere on their contact pages.
Finally, it's time to send them a cold email with your partnership offer for sponsored content for your readers, strongly emphasizing the reasons why... which they should pay the sponsorship dollars.
Here is an example of a sponsor pitch email that you can use in your blogger outreach campaign (or brand sponsorship solicitation):
"Hello Mary,

If you go the route of advertising and sponsorship, you will need a media kit that provides advertisers with key metrics and information about your audience, to help them decide whether or not their sponsorship is worth the investment.
Don't worry, a media kit is quite simple to create using Microsoft PowerPoint or Keynote and you will immediately reap the benefits of having a single, concise document to share with potential advertisers.
Having a clearly listed media kit on your blog (I recommend highlighting it on your contact pages) will let businesses know you're open to sponsorships. Another advantage is that a media kit also displays clear, fixed prices, which helps you avoid low-cost and unsuitable advertisers.
Here are the essential elements you need to include in your own media kit in order to land quality sponsors:
- A little word about yourself. After all, you and your blog are the product. Why should sponsors invest in you?
- A breakdown of your readership. Who is your target audience? What are their demographics? What are their interests? What do they buy?
- Your traffic report. It's here that's where Google Analytics comes in. You will need to display pageview numbers so advertisers know how many people they are going to reach.
- Advertising opportunities. What do you sell? Advertising space? Sponsored blog posts? Podcast ads? Affiliate partnerships? Email marketing? All of the above?
- Pricing. It can be daunting at first, but if you ensure your pricing is appropriate for your audience size (and engagement level), then you're on the right track. Review other bloggers' media kits in your specific industry to see how they value their opportunities and how you compare.
Regarding pricing, when you're starting out, it's more common to begin with a sponsored post costing between $100 and $500 if you have an engaged and growing readership. This will help your sponsor get paid. This amount can increase as your readership grows.
Make sure your media kit is clear, concise, and visually appealing. Advertisers will want to download and keep it while they decide whether to spend money on you.
You'll also want to make it easy for sponsors to contact you, so you can get the ball rolling with a quick email or contact form.
2. Affiliate programs

Let's talk about affiliate programs. Joining (and promoting) most affiliate programs is arguably easier than seeking blog sponsorships, if you ask me.
Companies that already have integrated affiliate programs are ready and willing to pay you money in exchange for directing readers to your blog, meaning you don't need to search for sponsors or invest time in creating your own product before you start making money.
However, in order to generate significant income through affiliate marketing, you generally first need a good amount of traffic to your blog.
What I like most about affiliate programs is that they skip the cold calling phase that other channels like referrals and freelance work require. Plus, many affiliate programs are highly automated, allowing you to get started quickly.
Just like with referrals, you get paid to recommend a product to your readers. The best part about affiliate programs is that many companies offer them. From Amazon's affiliate program to Target and eBay's, to your budding small e-commerce businesses with high-converting landing pages looking to jump on the affiliate bandwagon, there are tons of options for joining profitable affiliate programs.

The best way to make money with affiliates certainly depends largely on the niche you write about. Here are some of my picks for the best blog affiliate programs:

3. Blog Ads
Displaying advertising space is undoubtedly the simplest (and fastest) way to make money.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean that simple advertising space is the key element when you're starting out—and it's the first channel I personally pursued. But because it's relatively easy to do, it's also the cheapest in terms of financial return.
For example, a simple advertisement (photo) on a blog can generate between $200 and $300 per month in revenue based on approximately 30,000 monthly readers.

Of all the different ways I'm involved in making money blogging, this is one of the lowest returns in terms of total dollars earned (especially for my traffic volume).
However, the trade-off is that I don't need to make any daily effort to generate revenue with this channel since I am an approved publisher with the advertising platform. Carbon Ads , which goes out and negotiates deals with advertisers like Atlassian, Adobe, Slack, and hundreds of other tech tool companies that want to reach my audience.
Are blog ads still a legitimate way to make money from blogging?
In short, yes. Advertising space is still an active element in many digital marketing campaigns, and for good reason. Especially if you're using smart software to track conversion rates. But above all, blog ads mimic pre-digital advertising—billboards, magazine placements, newspaper ads, and so on.
On good blogs (especially if you followed my guide on how to name a blog (in a creative way), advertisements can be an incredibly simple way to raise brand awareness and get the public's attention.
And now that we spend countless hours online (the average person spends 24 hours a week online), it's easy to display ads to readers. You can advertise on your blog and start making money blogging through this channel in a variety of ways.
The most popular, of course, is to start with Google Adsense All you have to do is sign up, place a piece of code provided by Google on your site where the ad will go, and advertisers will make a bid to reach your audience with relevant terms.
Keep in mind that when you use Google AdSense, you don't have much control based on what's advertised on your blog. If you want to stay true to your brand and keep your audience engaged, try another, more industry-specific and tightly controlled advertising platform like Carbon Ads, or explore other options that are more closely aligned with your target audience.

Of course, you need to find businesses in your niche that want to advertise on your site, but you'll almost always be able to negotiate higher paying deals with this approach. Also, over time, as your audience grows, companies will start approaching you for sponsorship opportunities.
Sell your own products and services
Asking other companies to pay you in exchange for sharing their products with your audience is not the only way to make money.
When you're looking for ways to monetize your blog, it's important to consider what you're truly passionate about (probably not advertising other companies' products, right?), as well as your personal skills to find opportunities to sell your own products and services to readers.
Here is a concrete example of how I make money from blogging.
For example, if you are a parent who enjoys sharing parenting tips on your blog, but have no intention of ever selling your own products to readers… then opting for sponsored content and advertising may actually be your best decision.
On the other hand, if you are a chef who shares impressive new recipes and you want to create a personal brand for yourself, then ultimately it may be best to start the process by selling an eBook that is a simple compilation of all your best recipes with beautiful pictures and step-by-step tutorials.
Testing the waters with an easy-to-create digital product can also pave the way for many exciting new opportunities to come.

When pricing anything you personally sell, be sure to consider your blogging overhead, rather than just picking an arbitrary number that sounds good.
If you are pricing a digital product like an eBook or online course, you may think there are no overhead costs, but it is important to understand the skill you are bringing (how long did it take to master?), the time it took you to create it, and what that is worth to someone who will consume and act on your content.
You may need to try a few different prices before finding the sweet spot.
Definitely look at what your peers are doing for inspiration. Your die-hard fans might buy regardless of the price, but others will certainly check the price before hitting the buy button on your blog.
4. Sell online courses

Do you have a skill you can teach others? Do your readers look to you for your expertise in a particular area?
Monetize this skill by creating an online course and you'll be on the fast track to making money.
The best part? Creating an online course can be as simple as filming a series of a few short instructional videos that teach your blog readers how to do something meaningful based on your own blogging skills, experience, and success. If you have excelled in Something There are people who would gladly pay to benefit from your expertise and accelerate their learning curve.
The main online course platforms like Udemy , Skillshare et creativelive all offer a wide variety of courses ranging from 30 minutes to 30 hours or more, with longer courses naturally fetching higher prices as they are often much more in-depth.
At the other end of the spectrum, an online course can take just as long that you will allow .
If you are still learning how to make money blogging with online courses, I advise you to start by creating a short format course (less than 60 minutes of video content) on a very specific niche topic that can be taught without too much help along the way.
Believe me… I have created 4 online courses in the last 5 years - all different in terms of size, scope and topics - you will need to start by creating a simple course for your first experience.
How do you create your first online course?
First, you will need to determine the skill or process you want to teach (and how long it will take someone to learn it).
Next, you will need to validate this course idea with your readers or start conversations with your target customers, in order to ensure that there is actually a paying audience for the course you want to create.
The social media marketing niche is a great example of how you can make money with an online course…
Let's say you're an Instagram champion and your followers want to know how you do it. You could create a course that teaches them, step by step, how to become an Instagram pro. Different modules in your course could focus on distinct topics such as:
- The Basics of Taking Attractive Photos
- How to find your perfect posting schedule for your audience
- Write engaging captions and leverage hashtags
- Go from 0 to 1 followers in 000 days

As you offer more courses to your audience, you will refine your process and learn to improve over time.
5. Physical Products

Well, well… I know you probably started a blog because you think: "I don't want to be in the physical products space, Thierry. I just want to write and make money blogging without creating products and shipping packages all day."
And I understand that. Personally, I don't (anymore) sell physical products on my website, but hear me out on this one, because a lot has changed in the last few years.
You no longer need to store your own inventory - you can ship your products without ever having to print shipping labels or store cardboard boxes yourself. This relatively hands-off approach makes selling products a rather attractive way to generate income today.
What is Dropshipping?
Dropshipping is a business model that you can use to run an online store without ever holding inventory yourself.
Once you've made a sale from your blog, your supplier (a warehouse that packs and ships sellers' orders) will ship your products directly to your customer's door, for a fee of course. But you'll never have to worry about storing, packing, or shipping your products.
If you want to sell physical products, let's go a little further… You don't even need to create your own products anymore.
You can find a product category that already exists on the market today (with proven demand and paying customers), and then find a supplier on a site like Alibaba who will create a private label version of this product , so you can start selling it yourself.
Alternatively, if you don't want to go through the (often tedious) process of searching for suppliers, you can opt for a print-on-demand platform like Printify which gives you easy access to create and print your own designs on over 250 different products. In addition, they also handle fulfillment and shipping.
Here are some examples of private label products you could sell:
- Vitamins, protein powders and nutritional supplements
- Yoga pants and sportswear for women
- Backpacks, speakers, chargers, and other travel accessories (if you're a travel blogger)
- Make-up and cosmetic products
- And more
And remember that you also need to set up quickly an online store closely tied to your blog in order to collect orders, gather customer information, collect payments, and update your orders.
6. Launch a software tool

Are you a professional software developer? If not, you may have a good friend or former colleague who is.
In its simplest form, a software tool is something that people (your blog readers or even independent clients) can use to automate a process - or a series of processes - and avoid doing the task more manually.
To give you an example, my blog runs on a theme called Elementor(for my CMS, WordPress). This WordPress theme is a software product that I purchased, and because they release regular updates, they charge an annual subscription to receive updates and premium support.
It is possible to run a blog without using WordPress or a theme like Elementor, but the highly visual nature of how this theme works means I never have to touch a line of code or learn coding languages to run my blog on a basic day-to-day basis.
When Elementor When it was first launched, they created a software product that greatly simplified the process of managing a visually appealing WordPress blog. It's worth the price, and I've been a customer for six years now.
Software and other digital products of this kind are not limited to things like WordPress themes. Other examples include items such as:
- Mobile apps
- productivity tools
- Email marketing service providers
- Customer relationship management tools (CRM)
- Even video games
If there is a process or series of tasks that people perform regularly, software can be designed to help automate or streamline those activities - and if you have an audience of readers who share this same challenge, you can fairly easily make money blogging and solving their needs with software.
The fun part will be working with a handful of readers to create and perfect your software before releasing it to the world.
7. Sell your own services

Selling your time, skills, and expertise as a service aligns quite closely with selling online courses. However, when it comes to selling your services, there's a major difference compared to selling courses: you work either one-on-one or in a small group with a client to provide individualized support or deliverables.
The common theme, however, is that you once again find a clear skill that you already possess and use it to make money by blogging.
The services you can sell (among many other ways to make money online) include things such as:
- Business advice on an hourly basis
- Designing logos on sites like 99 Designs or Dribbble
- Supporting individuals on a monthly subscription basis
- Writing text or blog content for brands
- Editing podcasts and using your audio engineering skills
- Creating search engine optimization projects for online brands
- Creating websites or software tools for established businesses
- If you have a skill, it can be offered as a service…
Because services are often provided on a more individual basis and involve working closely with one client at a time, this means that it will not evolve in the same way as affiliate income or course sales.
However, it can still be very lucrative if you charge premium rates to established customers, which is worth it.
8. Write (and sell) e-books

We have already briefly explained why writing and selling ebooks (your own digital product) is another great way to make money from blogging, largely due to the scalability of your income without the need to incur additional expenses after writing the book.
With every new sale you generate, the vast majority (if not all) of the profit goes directly to you, when you sell an e-Book directly on your blog and collect payments via Stripe ou PayPal .
No intermediaries. No publishers. No distributors. No retail stores.
This means that when you learn how to write an eBook and sell it, you will retain the absolute maximum possible profit margin on your eBook sales.
That's not a bad way to make money, is it?
However, I have a major warning for you… it is because I have invested a lot of time and effort in creating high-quality, long-form articles (like the one you are reading right now) that drive traffic to my blog from search engines, notable publications, and social media that I have an engaged audience that regularly buys my ebooks.
Finally, it is important to clarify that when I talk about eBooks, I mean digital books in the form of Downloadable PDFs . This e-book format is so easy to make and sell these days.
That being said, you can go the extra mile and borrow the road Amazon eBook which also allows you to sell eBooks and audiobooks in Kindle format both on your own blog and to hundreds of millions of Amazon customers.
If you're confident you have knowledge to share and are a good writer, an ebook could be one of your best ways to monetize your blogging, given your skills and experience. Just be sure to start by write a plan .
The fact that you already have a blog with an existing readership should give you confidence that you have something worth reading. Perhaps it's time to turn that content into an ebook.

9. Launch a virtual summit

Virtual summits require a lot of work, but that work can lead to incredible returns. A virtual summit is a live (or pre-recorded) event covering a specific topic with multiple guest speakers. That's why I constantly emphasize the importance of finding your tribe.
If you have a group of like-minded readers on your mailing list, each with their own communities that align with your message, then you have the audience for a virtual summit just waiting to be invited.
A virtual summit is the culmination of all the above ways to make money. You teach, you coach, you sell. Think about your audience and what motivates them.
- What do they want to learn?
- How can you help them?
- Do you have enough content to create a summit?
When you feel confident in how you have answered these questions, start planning the event.
- How many speakers do you want?
- Will it be a live or in-person webinar-based summit?
- Who would attend and when should it be?
Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to organize your summit. So promote, promote, promote.
How to make money blogging with a virtual summit?
Well, there are several ways to monetize a top.
The simplest way (and easiest to run your first round) is to sell admission tickets. Prices between $20 and $200 are typical, depending on your industry. You can offer discounted prices for early birds. Ask all your speakers to also promote the event to their audiences.
Another way to monetize your summit is to allow free "live" viewing, then sell a full access pass to anyone who wants to be able to watch the speakers they missed (or watch again).
With both approaches, you can sell your audience another product after the event ends, for example an online course, an e-book, or a coaching package that expands on the concepts discussed during the live summit.
In any case, creating a virtual summit will likely be your primary goal for the quarter. If you choose the summit route, you'll also need to ensure you have another monetization strategy in place while your focus remains solely on this project.
Use your own talent to make money by blogging
You're good. You are experienced. Your audience believes in you.
If you've made it this far and have a blog with a real readership, you're a gem, my friend. You have talent, and now learn how to monetize your blog.
Perhaps the monetization channels we've discussed so far weren't the best fit... or perhaps you're already using them and want more ideas.

10. Business partnerships

When you have a growing blog, you have an audience .
And when you have an audience that consistently comes back for more of what you offer them, you create unique business partnership opportunities to further monetize your audience.
Business partnerships can transform in different ways, so it is difficult to explain just one.
A business partnership can be as simple as an affiliate relationship, as we have already covered above.
However, it could also mean…
- Work with a tech company to white label their app and sell that version to your followers
- Partnering with another blogger to create a product together and sell it to the other's audience
The fact is, I keep talking about the importance of growing your audience. This applies equally to building win-win business partnerships.
Find other businesses or individuals who match your audience, your blogging goals And, most importantly, to your plans for making money from blogging. From there, all that remains is to find a way to work together so that all parties benefit.
11. Podcast sponsorships

If you've thought about how much you need to start a podcast...
Okay, this is your chance now. It will be a lot of fun and it can help you considerably.
Of course, when you're just starting out, you probably won't be able to get similar sponsorship rates, as your show probably won't immediately have thousands of listeners tuning in to hear what it's about.
It will take time to go from choosing the best podcast hosting platform to launching your show and building your audience. However, if you've already succeeded in creating content and attracting regular readers to your blog, you can launch your podcast with a bang by heavily promoting it to your existing audience.
The best part about choosing to start a podcast as a way to make money is that it can be a relatively low-effort undertaking once you have the tools and process (compared to writing massively epic blog posts all day).
Start small with podcast sponsorships and set yourself up for success.
If you're short on time, you can start by taking your blog posts existing , turn them into spoken words and start publishing them regularly as podcast episodes that talk about all the most popular content from your blog (and share insights into what you're currently working on).
During your first few months of podcasting, you will likely attract more listeners on a very regular basis if your show is entertaining and you discuss interesting topics or bring in exciting guests. Promote your blog and your podcast by thoughtfully raising awareness among bloggers to feature you as a guest on other podcasts, offer guest blogs and create a social community with which to regularly share new content.
Once you have a podcast with regular listeners, you can add podcasting to your media kit and start charging sponsors for podcast ad placements such as 30-second pre-rolls, mid-rolls, and post-rolls that plug in your sponsored products and services.
12. Freelancing

Freelancing isn't for everyone, but it's certainly a good option when you're still deciding how to make money blogging.
As we have already mentioned, if you are a skilled writer (or at least enjoy it enough to improve over time), you might be able to start working freelance to share your expertise with clients who are willing to pay.
Especially if you have already grown your own blog to a respectable level and can demonstrate to clients that your content attracts and engages readers.
Now, becoming a freelance writer could be your chance to help other brands, startups, and bloggers do the same. That's exactly where freelancing comes in.
You can sell your services by offering to:
- Consult with the marketing teams of established companies and teach them how to create content.
- Become a mercenary who rewrites website copy and suggests improvements to better attract customers
- Coaching other writers and bloggers who want to achieve the same results as you
Never forget that you have a skill that can be used to make money by blogging, even if it's just by trading your time for a little extra income today.
13. Monetize with premium subscriptions
Do you want a steady income that arrives like clockwork every month? In 2025, premium subscriptions are the new star for bloggers who want to monetize their content without relying on ads or sponsors. And guess what? It's easier than you think!
With subscriptions, your readers pay a small monthly fee to access exclusive content, tools, or a private community. Here's how to get started:
- Choose your premium content : Create exclusive content, such as in-depth guides, tutorial videos, or monthly webinars. For example, if you blog about food, offer exclusive recipes or live cooking classes.
- Use a subscription platform : Register on Patreon, Substacks, or Memberful (integrable with WordPress). Set up subscription levels (e.g. $5/month for articles, $15/month for videos).
- Promote your offer : Add a “Join my premium content” button to your blog and mention it in your posts. For example, say, “My premium subscribers are getting my secret brownie recipe this week!”
- Engage your subscribers : Create a private community (e.g., Discord or Slack group) for your followers. Answer their questions and share bonuses to keep them engaged.
- Track your performance : Use Google Analytics to see how many visitors click on your premium offer, and adjust your prices or content based on the feedback.
14. Create video content for streaming platforms
Think blogs are just words on a page? Think again! By 2025, the video content on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, or Twitch is a goldmine for bloggers. And no, you don't need to be a video editing pro to get started!
Videos attract huge audiences, and streaming platforms offer easy ways to monetize. Here's how to turn your articles into lucrative videos:
- Repurpose your items : Take your best articles and turn them into video scripts. For example, an article on “How to Make Macarons” becomes a 5-minute video showing each step.
- Choose your platform : Publish on YouTube for long videos, TikTok for short clips, or Twitch for live streams (e.g., live cooking classes). Each platform has its own monetization options (ads, donations, subscriptions).
- Invest in basic equipment : A smartphone and a $20 microphone are all you need to get started. Use free tools like Canva for eye-catching miniatures.

NFTs allow you to sell digital content (items, videos, images) as unique or limited-edition pieces, often with incentives for buyers. Here's how to get started:
- Create exclusive content : Produce something unique, like a numbered article, an illustration, or a special video. For example, a food blogger could sell an NFT of a rare recipe with a private lesson included.
- Choose an NFT platform : Register on OpenSea, Rare, or Foundation. Connect a crypto wallet (eg. Dappradar) and upload your content.
- Set a price or bid : Sell your NFTs at a fixed price (e.g., 0,01 ETH, around $25) or via auction. Add bonuses, like a Zoom call for buyers.

This is a good way to dip your toes into blog monetization, but don't make the common blogging mistake of trying to monetize your content too early at the expense of building strong connections with your readers.
