Have you ever tried giving ice cream to a child?

What does ice cream have to do with a review on Elementor?

Wait… you'll find out soon…

So, again, the same question ...

Have you ever tried giving ice cream to a child?

If so, then you know how fast kids will grab ice cream and gobble it up!

Kids don't care who made ice cream, how ice cream was made, what the cost of ice cream is, or the consequences of eating ice cream!

They don't care about anything.

All they know is the ice cream is going to taste great.

Here!

Just one thing…

Good taste…

It's the one thing that attracts millions (probably billions) of children around the world to ice cream!

Just one thing !

Good taste !

Nothing else matters!

A similar thing is also what attracts a lot of people to Elementor and sets it apart from all of its competition.

Do you know what this one thing is?

The only thing that sets Elementor apart - Features and more features…

Elementor is packed with features!

It's probably the only WordPress page builder plugin that offers tons of features.

I really mean tons of features!

Even his closest rivalss, fade when you compare their functionality with those of Elementor.

And this is the main reason why Elementor has become popular in a relatively short period of time.

You do not believe me ?

Good ! Let me tell you about all the features that Elementor offers.

Characteristics of Elementor - Let's explore ...

I wonder where to start ...

Okay, let's talk about the most used feature first, widgets or items or whatever you want.

No, I'm not talking about WordPress Widgets. I'm talking about Widgets that come bundled with Elementor.

Confusing, I know!

But hey, let's take a look at these ...

Elementor Widgets

I've really lost count of how many Widgets Elementor offers.

Here is a short list of basic widgets offered in the free version of Elementor ...

  1. Status
  2. Image
  3. Video
  4. Button
  5. Icon box
  6. Rating stars
  7. Image Gallery
  8. Speedometer
  9. Testimonials
  10. Accordion
  11. Social icons
  12. tabs
  13. Toggle, etc ...

And here is a short list of the Pro Widgets offered in the Premium version of Elementor, Elementor Pro…

  1. Portfolio
  2. Slides
  3. Forms
  4. Price list
  5. Flip Box
  6. Sharing buttons
  7. Animated title
  8. Feedback
  9. Price list
  10. Call to action
  11. Reviews
  12. Theme builder
  13. Pop-up window builder
  14. WooCommerce builder etc.

Impressive, isn't it?

I know.

But that's not Elementor's only awesome feature.

As much as you enjoy the number of Widgets available in Elementor, you will appreciate even more the settings that are available to customize the appearance of each Widget.

Customizing widgets

This is another reason why Elementor remains one of the best among all WordPress plugins of Page Builder available in the market today.

Each Widget has a number of settings that you can change to customize it the way you want.

Here is an image showing the settings available for the Accordion widget…

And here is an image showing the settings of the Form widget ...

This is just the tip of the iceberg!

Each Widget has many parameters.

Speaking of websites, here's something even more interesting in Elementor ...

Templates and page blocks

Elementor also has a huge library of page templates!

Yes, I really mean huge!

The image below shows just a few of the page templates available in Elementor…

Some of these models are available in the free version of Elementor while others are available in the Elementor Pro version.

If you still haven't understood why I praise these models so much then ...

Take a look at the page templates available in Elementor…

Just put any of these templates on a page and you will instantly have a professionally designed page. And if you don't want to use page templates for some reason, you can use blocks.

No, I'm not talking about WordPress blocks.

Elementor Blocks are basically pre-designed sections that you can drag and drop onto your page as you create it.

Again, some of these blocks are available in the free version of Elementor and others in Elementor Pro.

You must be wondering whether you will be able to use these templates and page blocks perfectly with your WordPress theme or not.

This is where Elementor's next feature comes in handy ...

Theme builder

This feature is quite advanced, so I'll do my best to explain it.

This feature basically helps you get rid of the limitations that a typical WordPress theme throws at you.

Most WordPress themes will require you to write code. If you want to make layout changes on a page, post, or custom post type in WordPress, you need to code.

For example, let's say you want all of your WordPress posts to have a particular layout design that your theme doesn't provide you with. In such a case, you have to write some code, there is no alternative.

But now, with Elementor's Theme Builder feature, you can create any layout you want without touching a single line of code!

You can also design the header, footer, etc. with Theme Builder functionality.

Here is a small list of pages that you can create a layout for using Elementor's Theme Builder feature:

  1. Single post
  2. Post archive
  3. Search page
  4. Page 404 Page, etc ...

Elementor claims to have tested the theme builder functionality with hundreds of themes. So it should work with your theme too. However, I think it's always best to use a good theme like Astra to get the most out of this feature.

Popup Builder

Elementor Pro comes with a feature called popup builder which basically helps you create popups ...

Elementor review

Not only that, you can also set some really advanced display conditions to show your popup to your website visitors.

Elementor review

Yes, I know what you are thinking ...

Now you no longer need a separate popup plugin?

That's right. However, if you need to see statistics of your popups, for example, how many times a particular popup has been shown, how many leads it has generated and from which pages then you need a WordPress popup plugin dedicated.

If you don't need such stats or advanced features like split testing, this feature is a great option. Find out in this guide How to open Elementor popup from URL or menu

Now that we are talking about leads, here is another Elementor feature that will help you generate even more leads ...

Form builder

This feature helps you create fairly advanced forms without the need for a dedicated form plugin.

Most website owners don't need overly complex forms with conditional logic, repeating fields, etc. So Elementor's Forms Builder feature does the job extremely well in such cases.

Here is an example of a form created with Elementor:

Elementor review

Now, once you generate leads from your website, you want them too. sell your products and services.

This is where Elementor's next feature comes in ...

WooCommerce Builder

As you may know, WooCommerce is the most popular ecommerce plugin in the WordPress ecosystem.

But it's hard to personalize. And that's precisely where Elementor's WooCommerce Builder comes to the rescue.

Using this feature, you can design your WooCommerce store the way you want.

Here is a small list of widgets available in Elementor that allow you to customize your WooCommerce store:

  1. Product title
  2. Product images
  3. Product price
  4. Add to cart
  5. Product rating
  6. Product meta
  7. Upselling
  8. Basket menu, etc.

And Elementor's list of features is still not complete!

Now let's talk about integrations ...

Elementor integration

Integrations with other apps and services are the hallmark of all good software. And Elementor comes with tons of integrations.

Here is a small list of services Elementor integrates with:

  1. MailChimp
  2. ConvertKit
  3. Yoast
  4. ACF
  5. Slack
  6. YouTube
  7. Vimeo
  8. Google fonts
  9. Adobe fonts, etc.

If you are still not impressed with all of these features of Elementor, here is one more reason why you should consider building your website with Elementor ...

One more reason to consider Elementor - Price

First of all, Elementor has a free version which is by far the most feature-rich Page Builder available in the market today.

So, if you are looking for a free page builder plugin, Elementor should be your choice without a doubt.

Next comes the Elementor Pro version ...

Personally, I think Elementor nailed the price of Elementor Pro.

There is something for all budgets.

And the best part is that Elementor Pro's price depends on how many websites you want to use Elementor on. So, for example, if you want to use Elementor on one website, you pay less, and if you want to use it on more websites, you pay more.

Basically, no Elementor functionality is being kept away from you if you pay less. You always get full functionality no matter how much you pay for Elementor Pro.

Frankly, I hate it when plugins keep certain features locked into more expensive plans and force you to shell out more if you want more features. I'm glad Elementor doesn't.

Okay, enough of the good stuff.

One thing that is not so good in Elementor - Too many features

Elementor probably added more features in a relatively short period of time than any other page builder plugin available on the market today.

It is being developed at an extremely rapid rate.

Isn't that a good thing?

No!

Here's why…

I've been in the software industry for over 10 years now and the one thing I've seen time and time again is that when you start adding more and more functionality to software; it becomes bulky over time.

After a while the technical debt keeps increasing and eventually the software becomes heavy and bloated.

Then the bugs start to creep in and in general the stability and security of the software is compromised. I'm not saying either of these things will ever happen to Elementor ...

I wish the team behind Elementor every success.

But this is a point that you simply cannot ignore when investing in software. And that's the reason I raised it. But until that happens, Elementor is still a great choice for building your website.

Another problem with too many features is that they can be confusing.

I know this because I've been involved in some pretty in-depth user experience studies. And all of them came to only one conclusion ...

More features = More confusion = Reduced ease of use, unless the software is extremely well designed.

Unfortunately, I cannot say that Elementor is extremely well designed.

An example of why I say this is the use of terms like Widgets and Blocks. Widgets and blocks mean something specific in WordPress but Elementor decided to use those terms for something else.

Another example is the confusing use of sections and columns. Here is what I mean ...

The same area is called Section as well as Column!

What can I say ?

Okay, maybe I'm getting too critical here, but these are the kinds of things that ultimately confuse users.

anyway ... let's move on ...

Now let's talk about ...

Some frequently asked questions about Elementor

No, I'm not going to bore you with a few random FAQs.

The questions below are basically the ones I had before I started using Elementor to build my websites.

That's why I thought these will come in handy for you too.

So let's go…

1. Who created Elementor?

Yoni Luksenberg and Ariel Klikstein are the co-founders of Elementor. Here is the whole Elementor team...

2. Can you use Elementor with any theme?

Whether you can. But you might need to confirm this with your theme developer too, just in case.

3. Which theme should you use with Elementor?

Astra. Probably in my mind after using this theme with Elementor on a number of websites.

4. Is Elementor Pro worth it?

Yes. Because the price is ridiculously low and you get tons of features. But if your needs are met with the free version of Elementor, then no need to purchase the Pro version. As easy as that!

5. Is Elementor SEO compatible?

SEO is a very broad subject and a lot of things can impact the SEO of a website. So far, I haven't seen any positive or negative impact from using Elementor on a number of the websites I have created.

6. Will Elementor affect the speed of the website?

Again, website speed is a pretty broad topic and a lot can affect it. I didn't see a noticeable impact on website speed when using Elementor.

7. Is Elementor responsive?

Yes, websites built with Elementor are mobile friendly.

8. How is Elementor's support?

Well, not great. You should keep in mind that you will often be dealing with people on the support team for whom English is not the first language. So some answers can sound pretty rude when they're not meant to be.

So, is Elementor the best page builder?

Yes and no.

Yes, if you want a free Page Builder WordPress plugin. There is no other plugin page builder free that even comes close to Elementor.

No, if you want a more stable and less scalable page builder plugin. Too many features.

And now the million dollar question ...

Should you use the free version of Elementor or Elementor Pro?

I would say having Elementor Pro from the start. It's just perfectly priced for every budget without compromising the features you have.
