The WordPress table is pretty straightforward to use no matter where you live in the world since it has been translated into many different languages. The tricky part is knowing where to get a translated copy.

While WordPress can be downloaded in US English by default, the WordPress.org download page does not provide the obvious guidelines on how to download and install WordPress in the language you choose. It is true however that, depending on your location, you will have a WordPress page in your language.

If this is not the case with you, don't worry. Today I'm going to show you how to download WordPress and put it in another language for newer and higher versions. I will also show you how to do this manually.

Download a copy of WordPress

When you download a copy of WordPress, there are two options available to choose the language for your dashboard. You can download a copy, install it, then choose a language in the settings or you can download a translated copy right away.

Translate WordPress after an installation

Visit the WordPress.org home page and click on the download up.

Then click on the button for the ZIP file or click on the link download for the GZIP compressed version. Save the file to your computer, and then install WordPress.

For more details, see Guide to the best ways to install WordPress.

Once done, go to your admin dashboard and click on " Settings> General ". Then scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll find the site's language in a drop-down list. Select the language you want to use for the WordPress dashboard then click on the " Save Settings "(Assuming your version of WordPress is in English).

For the multisite network, go to your super admin dashboard and click on "Settings> Network settings". Find the default language on the drop-down menu and select the language you want to use, then click Save changes at the bottom.

At this point, the translation file is installed on your site. Your WordPress dashboard should now be displayed in the chosen language.

Download WordPress already translated

In addition to choosing a language for WordPress in the settings, you can also download a translated version of WordPress.

To do this, first visit the WordPress.org home page and in your address bar add the language code and a period just after https: //. You can find the language code you need by visiting the WordPress translation page.

Locate the language you want to use on the list, and retrieve the language code.

For example, the language code for Afar is aa. This means you need to enter an address similar to this: https://aa.wordpress.org.

Then press Enter on your keyboard to visit the Translation WordPress.org homepage.

Keep in mind that not every language has a complete translation. The green line at the bottom of each language displays a list of the number of translations.

If the green bar runs the length of the box then the translation is complete. If the line does not reach partly through the box, the translation is not completely finished.

Once you have reached the translated WordPress homepage, scroll down to the download section and click on the WordPress download button to save the ZIP file to your computer.

All you have to do is install WordPress.

Manual selection of languages

If you are having an installation problem with an international version of WordPress or you have installed a WordPress site and the language is not working properly, you can go for the manual method.

Start by going to the Translation Projects page of WordPress Translation and choose a version. It is recommended that you choose the latest version available, which is the safest.

Choose the language in which you want to translate WordPress.

The final steps will be to create a new folder on your server and upload this file on it. You can do this via SSH, FTP or via a control panel such as cpanel.

In the "/ wp-content /" folder, create a new folder and rename it "languages". Download your saved ".mo" file inside "/ wp-content / languages /".

You can now access your admin admin dashboard and choose the language you have installed in the WordPress settings as previously described.

Once done, your admin dashboard should be displayed in your chosen language.

It may be important to note that if you made a mistake during this process or the language you want to display has not been selected, the default is English.

That's all for this tutorial, I hope it will allow you to translate WordPress.
