Would you like to create a site for sell courses online with WordPress? Sell courses online allows you to make money from your blog by teaching others how something where you have expertise. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to create and sell an online course in WordPress using LearnDash.
What do you need to create / sell an online course?
You will need the following things to start sell courses online with WordPress.
- Un domain This will be your website address (example, blogpascher.com).
- A WordPress hosting account. This is where your website files are stored.
- A course management plugin to create and manage courses.
You can create your online course with WordPress in under an hour, and we'll walk you every step of the way.
Let's start.
Step 1. Setting up your WordPress site
There are many website builders that you can use to build your website. However, we still recommend WordPress because it gives you the flexibility and freedom to take your website in the direction you want.
There are two types of WordPress sites, and often beginners get confused between the two. First there is WordPress.com which is a hosting service, and then you have the original WordPress.org also known as self-hosted WordPress.
We recommend using WordPress.org as it gives you access to all the WordPress features you will need.
To start a hosted WordPress.org site, you will need a domain ($14,99/year), WordPress hosting ($7,99/month), and an SSL certificate to accept online payments ($69,99/year).
It's a lot of money just to get started.
Fortunately, Bluehost, an officially recommended WordPress hosting provider, has agreed to offer its users a domain free, a free SSL certificate and a discount onWeb hosting.
Basically, you can get all the above for 2,75 $ per month.
Step 2. Installing and installing the LearnDash LMS plug-in
LearnDash is one of the best LMS (Learning Management System) plugins. It's an all-in-one solution with comprehensive course management, lesson plans, quizzes, homework, course progression, and more.
Now that we're on the same page, let's begin the course installation process.
First, you will need to install and activate the LearnDash plugin. For more details, see our step-by-step guide to way to install a WordPress plugin.
When activating, you must visit the page LearnDash LMS »Settings and click on the LMS License tab to enter your email address and license key. Once you have entered the information, click on the “Update License” button to save your settings.
Then you need to switch to the “PayPal Settings” tab. This is where you will enter your PayPal information to receive online payments from your users.
Don't forget to click on the "Save" button to save your settings.
LearnDash also offers Stripe and 2Checkout payment gateways available as extensions. You can install them if you don't want to use PayPal.
Once you've configured the payment settings, your LearnDash LMS plugin is ready to use and you can start creating courses.
Step 3. Creating your first class
LearnDash makes it easy to create courses.
First of all, you need to visit the page LearnDash LMS »Courses , then click on the "Add new" button.
This will take you to the “Add New Course” screen. You will need to provide a title for your course first, then add a detailed description. You can also add categories / tags and featured image.
Below the course description, you will see the course options box. This is where you can set different options for the course, including the course price and what type of course it is: open, free, closed, buy now, or recurring.
Once you are satisfied with your course options, you can click the Save or Publish button to make your course available to the public.
You can click on the preview button to see your course in action.
Note: You will not see the “Take this course” button if you are viewing the course page while logged in as an administrator in WordPress. We recommend that you open an incognito window or log out to preview the course page.
We will continue in a future tutorial where we will talk about adding Quizzes and providing certification.
Hello
Where can you find the pros / cons if I used the Learndash plugin instead of Digimember?
I now have Learndash and want to link it to my existing website. They asked to install a theme from Learndash. I don't want this because it replaces the theme of my website. Do I have to create a separate domain name? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Buy LearnDash and WordPress.org (also payment) and integrate Woocommerce, to leave it as a payment platform. As you can, once a student purchases the course. direct you to purchased courses such as a private area or private account? LearnDash doesn't have tutorials where they explain, they only have promotional videos. Some videos from independent developers explain that you can put the URL in the note of the order for the student to copy and access the courses, but I don't find it dangerous because one of the characteristics of the LMS is that it is secure, ie only those who pay for the course have access to it; and in this case I reveal the link so that anyone can access it. My question is; Is there a smarter and safer way to get the student straight into classes after the student has paid? Suggestions? thank you so much
Add LearnDash to the WordPress.org platform (also paid) and integrate Woocommerce as a payment platform. How can you make them once they have purchased an online course, take them directly to a private account where the LearnDash courses are located? . LearnDash hardly offers any tutorials, only advertising videos. It is therefore difficult to find such information. Other revised videos from independent developers indicate that the links of purchased products (online course) are placed in the purchase note, but I do not believe that this makes sense because anyone copying the link can access to the courses and that's what I want to avoid, that I put the payment, if not, the download on YOutube. Suggestions? Thank you
Can you rephrase your application?
Hello Kelly,
To restrict access to Video content, it is possible to do this easily in 2 ways:
* install an ARmember or S2member plugin which conditions access to pages only to members who have paid
* have videos hosted on Vimeo (from € 10 / month for 5GB) and limit their access to your subscribers only
