Earlier this year Hookr.io went into beta with a new interface and compatibility with over 800 plugins and themes. This website provides a reference for WordPress Hooks and APIs, but creator Christopher Sanford has a bigger vision.

Today Sanford announced the publication of a new WP Inspect plugin, available for free. This WordPress Plugin main role is to display the actions and filters available on a page that has been loaded.

By hovering over each indicator and clicking on it, new content will be displayed presenting the details of this hook and examples of use.

This plugin also offers an internal search functionality to quickly filter data from the admin bar. Developers can tweak the default hooks to ignore or view their specific characteristics. This WordPress Plugin is easy to configure, you will find its options in the Tools section.

Sanford started working on this plugin a week before WordCamp US.

"I was not sure of its usefulness (but I introduced the plugin to Zac and others they seemed to like) ”.

He said.

So I worked 18 hours in a row to quickly finish the job.

This plugin has been tested for the past two weeks and is now stable and ready to use. Since it is purely development oriented, this plugin should not be installed on a production website.

What is planned for the future

Over the years, Sanford has regularly added plugins at the request of users, including WooCommerce, Caldera Forms and many more. He hoped premium theme and plugin developers would be on board to host their APIs as well.

“I did substantial work on the analysis engine (The latter now displays the gaps between the source code and the documentation). This will be a feature that I will offer as a service as well. "

He said.

“I will be launching the website API at the same time. The latter will work with Rocket Genius (Gravity Forms) to provide real-time data for their premium plugin. "

After this initiative has been revealed, Sanford is now focusing on the development of plugins for Atom IDE and Sublime.

The new name of the Hookr plugin

The name Hookr was controversial from its inception by some who found it offensive. Sanford has come up with a new name which is WP Inspect. Here is what he said about those

“The market is saturated, it's a short, memorable and established brand. On several occasions, some people have used the term 'unhappy' to describe this name. If it is also offensive, why the number of our subscribers continues to increase? Those who complain don't pay my bills and aren't even users of our resource. This is the reason why their opinion does not matter to me. "

Sanford is in an uphill battle in which he struggles to find a better name for his platform. Several domain names were purchased, but nothing seemed to match what he was looking for.

Several products will soon be launched and these will aim to help finance theaccommodation from Hookr.io.
