So, now that you've decided towrite your first ebook, it might be time to find a topic for your digital book.

What should be the subject of your ebook?
Serious and strategic thinking is needed at this level. Since your ebook is supposed to solve a specific problem, finding a topic for your book is like choosing one or more problems in your niche that you will solve.

Yes, writing an ebook is simply useful. And it is this utility that you will trade for money (sell).

Solve a problem
As I just said, much more than just writing, your ebook must be a solution. Only when it becomes a solution for a person will it be useful. Do not choose a topic that will ultimately only affect 2% of your niche.

For example, you can write an ebook on the " how to do " This or that.

To keep people's fear away
We all want to know how to do this or that or how to confront and overcome our fears. Each of our desires, each of our desires or each of our fears is a problem that needs a concrete and effective solution.

For example, people want to know:

  • What if my spouse has cancer tomorrow?
  • How to work on the internet?
  • How to live my first pregnancy?
  • How to become my own boss?
  • What if my spouse leaves me?
  • How to secure the future of my children after my death?
  • How to become a professional blogger?
  • etc. ...

You can always choose a fear common to a lot of people, and suggest a way to overcome that fear. Looks like you just found a subject ... 🙂

There are always problems to solve. But before solving them you must first identify them, understand them and choose the one or those that your competence can help you solve.Let's see all this in detail ...

1. Identify the problems of your readers
We do not solve a problem we do not know. If you do not know the problems of your readers, you will not be able to understand them and if you do not understand them, you simply can not solve them.

Here are some questions that will help you do it correctly.

  • who are your potential readers?
  • what characterizes them?
  • what types of obstacles or challenges do they face every day?
  • What are the existing solutions?
  • Why do not they walk?
  • What are their limits?
  • what are the unresolved issues?
  • what does it take to succeed in my niche?
  • What are their biggest fears?

Here are some questions to start. Go to forums and read other blogs (especially comments) if you want to do it properly.

Small exercise:
- list 5 major problems encountered in your niche
- list 5 unresolved issues in your niche

I just want to say that by niche, I'm talking mostly about your area of expertise. I suppose it's on this one that you blog. If this is not the case, then I advise you to blog about what you know.

2. Understand the problems of your readers
Now that you've identified your readers' problems, it's time to understand them.

Here are some questions:

  • Why are they afraid?
  • Why do they want to solve their problems?
  • Why is it so important for them to solve these problems?
  • Why do they fail each time? Is it laziness? Procrastination ? information overload?
  • Why do not the solutions on the market work for some of them?

There are certainly others, but these are the ones I had in mind. In addition to what you will read on forums and blogs, I recommend that you conduct surveys. Go to your readers and try to understand why nothing is working and what would be the best solution for them.

Small exercise:
For each of the 5 problems listed above (problem identification), find 5 root causes. Try to understand the why.

3. What is your skill?
Identifying and understanding a problem is one thing, being able to solve it is another. The content of your ebook is only the materialization of a skill based on personal and common experiences.

You can not understand a problem if you have no experience in the field, just as you can not write a good ebook if you have no skills. Before you start, make sure you have something to contribute to others.

Here are some questions:

  • Which of these problems can you solve?
  • How do you plan to solve them?
  • What will you share with your readers?
  • What will you teach them?
  • What do you plan to do better than your competitors?

Also remember to inform yourself about the solutions proposed by other authors.

As you can see, choosing a subject for your ebook is based on your ability to identify, understand, and solve a given problem better than anyone else. In other words, the best subject for your ebook is the one you can understand and solve.
