Do you encounter an RSS error on your WordPress blog? Recently one of our subscribers asked us how to correct an RSS error on his WordPress blog. There are several reasons why an RSS error can occur on your blog and some may be caused by plugins or installed themes.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to fix an RSS error on your WordPress blog.

The most common RSS errors

Most RSS errors on WordPress are usually caused by poor formatting. WordPress displays the RSS feed as an XML file that is a strict markup language. A single missing line can completely break the RSS feed.

The RSS error is usually displayed as follows:

XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity Location: Line Number 2, Column 1:

Depending on your browser, the RSS error message may vary. You can see this error when you visit an RSS feed from a browser.

All this being said, we will now see what is causing these RSS errors and how to fix them.

How to manually correct an RSS feed on WordPress

The most likely reason for the RSS error is poor formatting as I said above. This bad formatting can be caused by a space after the closing tag of PHP in a theme or plugin.

If you recently added a piece of code to one of your files (child theme, or your own plugin / theme), then you need to edit that file.

If you notice the closing tag at the end of your file, make sure there is no extra empty space afterwards.

In principle, the php closing tag is not required at the end of a PHP script document.

If this does not correct the problem, read on.

How to fix the RSS feed error using a plugin

What you need to do is install the plugin Fix My Feed RSS Repair. After activating this plugin, you must access the " Tools> RSS Feed Fix Page".

Click the button " Fix Feed" , and that's all. You can now visit your website from a RSS feeds validator.

That's it for this tutorial. I hope it will solve your problem. Feel free to share it with your friends on your favorite social networks.
