"Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week"

Spanish Proverb

Very often people prefer to postpone until tomorrow because they are afraid of today, but what they ignore is that tomorrow is another today.

Procrastination along with information overload and ignorance is a common problem for everyone. We know what we want to do or have to do, but we always end up (for one reason or another) procrastinating.

So far, there is nothing wrong with getting away from it all a little bit every now and then. But if you procrastinate too much, you'll never have enough time to start, do, and finish the tasks that are most important to you.

Here are some of the causes of procrastination.

  • Poor self-knowledge
  • Ignoring
  • Doubt about his abilities
  • Afraid of the unknown
  • Information overload
  • Concentration problems
  • congestion
  • Guilt
  • Lack of clarity
  • Lack of priorities
  • congestion
  • Indecision
  • perfectionism

These are not the only causes, but they are the main ones.

So here are some timeless tips that will enable you to effectively combat procrastination and live your life to the fullest.

1. Learning to know each other
If procrastination is the bad habit of always putting off until tomorrow what we can do today, if sometimes also our sending back to tomorrow often brings us luck, then I believe that a question arises and here it is: When should we postpone until tomorrow?

I know many will disagree with me on what I'm about to say, but… you also need to learn to postpone until tomorrow very often. Yes, I know my words seem a bit contradictory, but let me explain in a few lines.

Some factors can (and should) lead to procrastination " voluntary " :

  • Tiredness
  • The stress
  • Ignorance
  • The environment

You know what you have to do, but you do not always have to do it "at all costs". Sometimes, when the ideal conditions are not met, it is good to postpone until tomorrow.

In addition, you should always listen to your inner voice. Very often we postpone until tomorrow because we sense that if we do what we have to do right now, the consequences could be catastrophic.

Sometimes it is laziness that speaks and not your "sixth sense". You must therefore take action very often if you want to learn to recognize this inner voice whose only objective is to lead us to happiness. Since listening to mine ... I AM HAPPY ! But to achieve this, you must also cultivate risk taking.

2. Learn to deal with information overload
This is an aspect that is very often overlooked. Information overload is a pathological imbalance between the amount of information received and that which we can naturally manage.

Your real burden today is made up of all those emails, reports, calls, TV shows, chats, etc… and it keeps getting bigger every day because of the accumulation.

Sometimes it is more important to talk about management rather than action.

We have had a fuller life since entering the Information Age. At the same time, this information is often a source of great discomfort, a discomfort which precisely has the gift of provoking procrastination.

You absolutely must learn to sort through the information you receive every day. If you don't know how to manage your information, you will never know how to set your priorities. And if you can't, I can assure you that you'll be filled with such frustration that procrastination and abandonment will be your greatest friends.

3. Take action.
Stop thinking and take action! Most people who procrastinate very often hide behind “false perfectionism”. They very often seek (in ignorance) the perfect plan before taking action. Unfortunately, this approach always results in paralyzing laziness.

Sorry, but no thought or plan, however perfect, has ever changed the world.

The secret to success is in action, not in mindset or design

It is in the action that you will gain in experience, in competence, in clarity and especially in results. Only action can allow you to move forward in your project.

Any achievement is the result of action and not planning (only)

It is neither your way of thinking nor your attitude that will make you successful in life, rather it is the way you do things that will make the difference.

Don't look for the perfect plan: It doesn't exist! Besides, Planning and looking for the perfect plan are not the same thing. Take action!

4. Set appropriate goals.
I talk about it quite widely in my ebook « How to Become a Strategic Entrepreneur » that you can download automatically once you join the club.

Did you know?

  • When we are faced with too much information and obligations we all tend to succumb to procrastination.
  • When we have a lot of work, it's hard for us to start with something.

As you can see, setting too many goals in life can also lead to procrastination. So set goals that you can reach. To get there, you need clarity.
