With over 100 million active users and over 1 billion cards created, Pinterest is the world's leading website for cataloging ideas and inspiration.

Unbeknownst to some, Pinterest allows you to display content from this social network on your own WordPress website. Posting a Pinterest image on WordPress is a bit trickier than on other social networks, but still an easy process.

This tutorial will allow you to post Pinterest images in articles / pages of your WordPress blog.

But before, let's discover together How to Install a WordPress Blog in 7 Steps et How to search, install and activate a WordPress theme on your blog.

Then, back to why we are here.

How to create a Pinterest widget

The first task is to find the Pinterest image you want to display on your WordPress website. You will need to do this on the desktop, rather than on mobile or tablet apps. Copy the URL of the image you want to display to your clipboard.

Then return to Developers' Pinterest page Developers to create a widget. Here you can create the widget which will allow you to display images on your site.

Add the URL of the image you want to display, choose a size (it will be full width for most WordPress websites) and choose to display a description. Pinterest will generate a preview of what your image will look like on your website. If you're happy, it's time to embed the code on your WordPress website.

How to embed the Pinterest image on WordPress

The Widget Builder Pinterest generates two lines of code for you. The first one (The top) needs to be put where you want your image and the second (Bottom line) is javascript code that will power the integration and needs to be added once per page - so if you are embedding multiple images, you will only need to add this code once.

Pinterest recommends that you add the JavaScript code just before the closing tag on your website, which is correct. Since you only need the code on the pages with Pinterest images, it is more efficient to do this rather than loading the Javascript Pinterest code on every page of your website.

We are now ready to add the code. The process is the same for articles and WordPress pages. Start by creating an article / page or edit an existing one.

Switch to text mode and find where you want to add the Pinterest image. Make a new line, to create a new line. Now go back to the widget builder, copy the top line of the code and paste it on the text editor.

You should now immediately return to the widget builder and copy the line of JavaScript code. Go back to WordPress, scroll to the bottom of the article and add two newlines again. Now paste the second line of code.

If you add multiple images on the same page, remember that you should not multiply the line of JavaScript code.

How to display Pinterest images on the frontend

The last step is the step where you have to be careful: publish or update or your article or page, but do not switch to text mode (and back to visual). Because of the bad way that WordPress handles certain types of code, going back to the visual editor will remove the first line of code that you added and your Pinterest image.

If you come back you'll need to add the first line of code again, so be careful!
