The problem with updating live articles on WordPress

WordPress simplifies the creation and modification of articles. You can edit all articles whenever you want, even after they are published.

However, while editing previously published articles, you cannot save them until you have finished editing. By saving an article that is not yet completely finished, it will also appear incomplete on your blog.

This is a bit problematic for various reasons.

  • If you are on a WordPress multi-author site, someone may need to approve the changes before the post is re-published.
  • But again, there will be times when you will not be able to finish all the changes in one session.

An easy workaround for this problem is to simply copy an article and paste it as a new project. You can edit the project and paste it to the original article.

The problem with this method is that you can not set or edit individual images, set Facebook thumbnails, labels or categories, and so on. This means that you or a publisher will have to make these changes directly to an article.

Well if you have any of these problems, then this tutorial will help you find a solution.

We'll show you how to properly update previously published articles while allowing you to make recordings without affecting the previously released version.

How to edit WordPress articles without affecting the published version

The first thing you need to do is to install and activate the plugin " Revisionize ". For more details, check out our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

After activating the plugin, you must visit the " Articles> All Articles In your WordPress dashboard. This is where all your published or draft articles are listed.

Move your mouse over the item you want to edit with Revisionize. You will notice a new link " Revisionize ". Click on it to edit a cloned version of this article.

You can edit the article as you would with any article. You can save your changes as many times as you like without affecting the previously published article.

You can see the changes made by the members of the editorial team. You can also use the public preview that you can share with people who are not editorial staff.

Once you are done editing, you can click the button Publish. The plugin will then replace your already published article with the new one.

What happens to the project?

It is always stored as a revision project, allowing you to reuse it again to edit the same published article again.
