1 - Install and activate the plugin " Another WordPress Classifieds »

To get started, install and activate the "AWPCP" plugin. It's free and listed on WordPress.org, so you can install it from your dashboard.

As soon as you activate it, you will already have a website basic of announcements.

You will receive an invitation to receive lessons on the use of this plugin.

All the features are there… you just need to customize it to get things to work perfectly!

Step 2: Do you want to offer free or paid ads

If you want, this WordPress plugin lets you choose between free and paid listings. With free listings, anyone can post an ad without paying anything. Because that's how websites like Craigslist work.

I would continue the tutorial assuming you want to allow free lists.

But just know that you can activate paid ads if you wish.

To make sure your ads are free, go to " Classified Ads → Setup → Payment ":

As you can see, there are a lot of configuration options. But the plugin is configured, so it's very easy to get started. That is, you can leave the vast majority of these settings as default.

Some things you will need to do however are:

Step 3: choose your ad categories

Then you have to choose the categories for all your ads. To do this, you can go to " Classifieds → Categories ».

To add a new category, just enter a name, choose whether you want it to be a high-level category or nest it in another category, and click " Add a new category ":

Create as many categories as you want. These will appear on the visible public space of your website.

Step 4: Make your ads page your home page

If you want your home page to display your ad listings, you must assign this page as the home page. To do this, go to " Settings → Playback And make AWPCP your home page:

You can also rename the page as you like. Doing these two things should give you a home page that looks like this:

Obviously, you may need to do some customization to make things fit your brand. But all the features are there now.

How People Submit New Ads

If a visitor wishes to submit a new advertisement, simply click on the " Place ad ».

First, they will choose a category:

Then they will enter their contact details and contact information:

After that, they will be able to download all the relevant images. The images should meet your basic needs. If they don't, users will get a message telling them the problem:

Returning to the home page of my test website, you can see that there is now a new entry in the Sale category:
