It is not enough to have good products, but to arrange them so that most of their details are easily understood. Very often, beginners fail to take care of the presentation of their products to the detriment of a multitude of products.
Let's be serious, are you able to buy a dusty vehicle in terrible shape, even if it turns out to be the fastest in the world? I do not believe.
As much as a service provider must be reassuring when discussing with potential customers, your products must be reassuring, to appeal to them.
This goes firstly by the presentation of its products. And on WordPressWe have a choice. And to better help you in your choice, in this tutorial we will learn how to offer a catalog of products on WordPress with the Plugin Ultimate Product Catalog, Available on WordPress.org.
Install and activate the Plugin
These are the actions to start. Since the Plugin is available on WordPress, you can install it from your dashboard.
After activating the latter, a new menu " Product catalog »Will be displayed on the dashboard. Click on this menu, and you will go to the main page of the Plugin.
How to create a product
This page consists of several tabs. We will start by creating a new product from the " Products ».
This page is quite similar to that of categories and keywords. I therefore invite you to add to the online form located on the left of the screen a name " name » slug (example : my-product-1), the address to the product image, price and description.
Below you can provide a link to the product page, its category and subcategory. Once you're done, click on " Add new product To create the product.
After creating the product, it will be displayed in the column to the right of the same page.
Use categories to better organize your products
Just like with articles, you have the option of assigning categories to your different products. The interface of the latter is quite similar to that of the categories, so you will have no trouble finding your way.
Do not forget to assign a category in the creation / modification of a product. You can also create sub-categories, from the " Sub-category ».
Using a catalog
The catalog is used to display a number of products. You can add them individually or according to their categories.
After creating a catalog, don't forget to retrieve the shortcode of these, because it is the latter that we will use in a item / page, to have a result similar to this one.
And the other features?
It is more precisely the keywords, custom fields and products page, which are only available on the premium version of the Plugin.
Equally important, these different features will allow you to provide more details to your different products. The premium version du Plugin only costs $ 30, considering its features, I think it's affordable.
Feature Summary
- 3 put en page
- Categories and subcategories for organizing products
- Custom fields that give more flexibility to Plugin
- CSS customizable
- SEO Friendly
- Drag & Drop system to reorganize the catalog
- And more

I just installed the plugin, I created a first trial catalog but I cannot create a page on which I will see my products displayed.

Hello,
What error message do you have?
Hello, is it possible to translate the plugin? At least the elements visible on the site like "Sort By" ==> "sort by", "product" ==> "product" etc ... If so, what to do?
Thank you
Hello,
Yes it's possible. You have to poedit.
Hello, I downloaded the Ultimate product catalog plugin according to the advice in your article on this subject. I also took the premium version. On the other hand I encounter a problem in the configuration of SEP Friendly, indeed when I apply the configuration the links are broken. I looked for where the problem comes from and I cannot find it and in their doc nothing is explained. If you have a solution, I'm interested.
Good evening Stéphane,
We have not encountered this problem. Try to deactivate your plugins, then test again.
