Every website needs to provide a way to connect with visitors. One Contact form tends to be the best solution and it's quite fast, easy to use, plus it gives you the ability to keep subscribers on your website.
As an integral part of a successful website, it's surprising to learn that there is a huge amount of plugins available for creating forms on WordPress. Among this multitude of plugins, a new one is born and is called " WPForms ».
If it is necessary to speak of pedigree of a plugin, few plugins can compete. WPForms was founded with the collaboration of Syed Balkhi and Jared Atchison-Syed is best known as the founder of WPBeginner, OptinMonster and Envira Gallery.
With a lot of competition in the space of Contact formsoccupying both the free status (Contact Form 7) And premium (Gravitiy Forms), do we really need a new plugin?
Well, WPForms promises to be a whole different form plugin: powerful and incredibly usable. But does WPForms really live up to what it promises?
We will know because, we will together examine in detail this plugin.

Review Plugin prices
Before we start, however, let's talk about money. WPForms offers four tariff plans:
- Basic ($ 39.50 / year) - Just the basic plugin. Can be used on one site.
- More ($ 99.50 / year) - The basic plugin, plus a collection of auto-responder extensions. Valid at all three sites.
- Pro ($ 199.50 / year) - The basic plugin and a full range of extensions, including payment gateways. The latter can be used on several websites.
- latest (299.50 $) - Unrestricted, lifetime license on the plugin.
In this review, we will test the functionality of the basic version of the plugin so that you can see what the basic version is capable of and what the premium versions will be. We will also take a look at what WPForms can do with its installed extensions.
Using WPForms
We will start by demonstrating how easy it is to create a basic form using the basic version of the plugin. After purchasing your license, the first step is to download the basic plugin from the website of WPForms - the file will be named wpforms.zip.
You can install the plugin by following the tutorial we have written for the occasion.
To use your new plugin, go to the menu « WPForms> Adding New ". This will open the interface of WPForms.
If you are familiar with the WordPress dashboard, you will not have much trouble exploring this dashboard. You will find that this interface is quite simple to use.
WPForms templates
The plugin offers a collection of 6 templates that you can use:
- Contact form tailored
- quote request form
- Suggestion Form
- Subscription form (you will spend a lot of time there).
- Form of invoice or purchase order (for users of the Pro plan).
- Forms of grants (for users of the pro and plan).

These templates are a useful feature as they give you a default form on which you can start your work, which can be a real time saver. For example, if you need a Contact form basic, you can click on the simple contact form button.
This comes with the fields generally used as: name, email, and a text box. If this is all you want, your form will be ready to integrate immediately (it will not take you more than 15 seconds).
Of course, there is also the empty form, which allows you to create a form from scratch. For the purposes of this study, we will test a full range of plugin functions, starting with the Drag and Drop form generation feature.

Champs WPForms
WPForms has over 22 field types with varying complexity, and divided into three categories: standard fields, fancy fields, and payment fields - some of these fields need to be integrated with premium extensions however.
To give you an idea of what the basic plugin can do, here are some of the most important types of fields:
- One-line text - a basic text field to get short answers.
- paragraph text - gives extra space to write the full message.
- Dropdown list - choose an option from a list.
- Checkboxes - select several options.
- Multiple choice - check the selection from the single choice boxes.
- Password - choose a password.
- Download the file - send a file via the contact form.
- Jump to page - Transforms a simple contact form into a multi-page form.
You can add as many fields as you want using the plugin's "Drag and Drop" functionality. You can use it to rearrange fields, too.
Each field comes with a full set of options - these options are specific to the domain you are editing. Just click on the field title to bring up the options panel, which is displayed on the left of the screen.
The options panel is split in two. The standard options allow you to specify the label of each field (the text above), a description (explaining the different fields), and also if a visitor is required to fill the field.

Further down in the options section you can see the " Advanced options ". These allow you to configure the field size and any defaults / placeholder text. This section also allows you to do some magic with CSS to customize your form design.
Form Options
Before your form can be used, there are several additional settings you need to configure - this is done by going to the settings panel.
The settings are divided into three tabbed sections, and all of them are extremely intuitive:
- General - give your forms name and description, choose to display the button to submit the form, and add an anti-spam to reduce spam.
- Notifications - specify to which address the data will be sent.
- Confirmation - enter a brief confirmation message, you can redirect users to a confirmation page.
When finished, do not forget to click the record button on the right side of the screen. Your form is now ready to use!
Integration of a form
WPForms simplifies adding a form to a custom article / page or publication format. There are three options available.
The first is to click on the embed button at the top of the WPForms user interface. This brings us to a viewer containing a shortcode WPForms. Copy this shortcode, then paste it into the WordPress visual editor on a post or page of your choice.
If you forget to copy the shortcode, that's no problem - the second option lets you embed your form directly from within the WordPress text editor. All you need to do is click on the " Add Forms Next to the button Add a media ».

This also results in a small viewer, from which you can select the form of your choice. You can also choose if you want to display the title of the form and its description. When you are satisfied, click the Add Form button, and the plugin will add the shortcode with your form.
The last option is to use the dedicated WPForms widgets (in Appearance> Widgets). Just drag the WPForms widget into the widget area of your choice, then you can choose the form you want to display in a drop-down list.
extension WPforms
To access the full functionality of WPForms, you must update your license. This unlocks extensions that extend its functionality - unlocked extensions will depend on your license.
They convert this simple contact form plugin into a feature-rich plugin that lets you create forms with innovative features.
To date, WPForms boasts a collection of seven extensions. These are divided into four categories:
- Extension of the auto-responder (Aweber, MailChimp and GetResponse).
- Extension to place orders (Standard PayPal and Stripe).
- Extension Conditional Logic - to display fields according to the users' choices.
- Extension for entries - Allows you to create forms with custom registration fields.
You can download the zip files for each "extensions" in the download area of your account.
First of all, we need to activate our license, so that WPforms knows which extensions are available to us. To do this, go to " WPForms> Settings », Add your key and save the settings.
Installing WPforms Extensions
Now you can access " WPForms> Addons ". You will be able to see the extensions available to you, and you can install these extensions by simply clicking "install". A few seconds later, you can activate the extensions, and you will be able to use them.
Auto-responder extensions
Autoresponders have long been considered the holy grail of internet marketing. As such, the most successful webmasters have subscription forms on their websites.
So much to see... 5 tips to improve your marketing and sell more products
However, WPForms can create subscription forms, which saves you money on finding a new specialized plugin. There are three extensions available which allow you to integrate three of the most popular email marketing services (AWeber, MailChimp et GetResponse).
There is also a specialist template, which can be used to increase the list of your subscribers, it consists of only essential fields: name and e-mail address.
You can integrate your form with your auto response services by navigating to the marketing tab. Select the service you want integrated and then click the add new option. You will need to add the authorization tokens that correspond to your auto-responders.

Subscription forms have a fairly simple appearance, but display well in the widget area.
Extension to place orders
These are good extensions, which allow you to collect money from forms on your websites. There are two payment gateways available: Stripe and Standard PayPal.
WPForms provides a template for a dedicated order form. There are also four advanced payment fields:
- Unique piece - attach a monetary value to a field, which visitors can choose from.
- Several articles - add a variety of items to a field, then specify the value for each.
- Total - Groups the value of a visitor's selections.
- Debit card - allows visitors to enter the details of their payment card.
Payment gateways are configured by browsing the payment tab. You can synchronize your form with your payment gateway by entering your Stripe or PayPal email address.
Conditional logic extension
Another extremely useful extension is conditional logic. It allows you to customize your forms based on a visitor's selections, to avoid displaying unnecessary fields.
We also advise you to read our comparison on some WordPress plugins that have conditional logic
For example, following purchases, you could offer the visitor a selection of payment by PayPal or by credit card. If a visitor chooses "PayPal", it is obviously no longer necessary to display the fields of payment by credit card.
With the conditional logic installed, each field receives an additional panel in the parameter section. If you check the box to enable conditional logic, the field will only be displayed if certain conditions are met.
For example, you can choose to show / hide a field if a visitor gives a certain response to any of the previous fields.
The verdict
Overall, WPForms is a great plugin that certainly delivers on its promises of being an easy to use plugin with a powerful feature set.
Excluding all pricing, the base plugin is perfectly polished for anyone looking to add simple forms to their website. The tailor-made interface is very intuitive and this is a plus compared to its rivals.
There are a number of templates available, in addition to a good selection of basic and advanced fields, so you can have a form set up and up and running in minutes.
More advanced features are available with premium licenses. These premium extensions integrate with your forms and provide features that meet your needs.
WPForms is, without a doubt, one of the best plugins for creating subscription forms. You can download the Lite version if you want to test some features on your blog.

How to do in this case?

Hello,
We have no solution to your concern. Can you report the concern to the plugin developer?
Good rain but very much below “Arforms” for example which offers a lot more possibilities and costs less.
Maybe it offers less interest as an affiliation?
Hello

Yeah!
Hello and thank you for your blog.
I am already using WPForms and want to upgrade to the pro version to use the online payment module.
Do you know what the 199.50 / year tariff is?
Do I have to pay every year to use forms already online?
or to put new ones?
Can we modify the paypal part of an online form if we no longer pay?
Thank you in advance.
NA
Hello Edouard,
Sorry for the late response.
1. The year, means that you will pay this amount every 12 months. So if you subscribe in October 2018, you will have to renew your pro license in October 2019.
2. The forms are unlimited, so that will not change, you will just have new features accessible only to Pro users
3. If you go back to the Free version, you will not be able to use the Pro options anymore (but I could be wrong).
Here!
I also think this is a good plugin, unfortunately I cannot set up a contact form. The mail goes out but nothing on the mailbox shows up. Are there any suggestions I haven't made yet?
Hello,
Try to disable all other plugins, then send the message again. Then activate the plugins one by one.
