WordPress stores all of your website content in the database. Almost all WordPress hosting companies offer MySQL as their database management software. You can interact with MySQL using command line tools, but it's not ideal for newbies.

PhpMyAdmin offers a web interface to manage your MySQL database. It can be used for manually back up your WordPress database , restore the administrator password ou move your website to a new server .

First of all, you need to go to your hosting account dashboard. Once connected, scroll to the Databases - DATABASES - section and click on the icon phpMyAdmin.

Don't worry if your cPanel dashboard looks a little different from our screenshots, or if your hosting company doesn't have a cPanel dashboard. You just need to locate the databases section and you will find the option to open phpMyAdmin.

This will bring you to the phpMyAdmin interface where you need to click on the Databases link at the top to continue.

If you are on shared WordPress hosting, chances are your hosting company does not allow users to create databases directly from phpMyAdmin.

In this case, you will not be able to see the " Copy the database to On the operations page.

However, you can still export the existing database and then import it to a new database. To do this, go to phpMyAdmin in your cPanel dashboard.

After selecting your WordPress database, click the Export button on the main menu, and then select a custom method.

phpMyAdmin will export your WordPress database and send it to your browser as a .mysql file.

Then you need to create a new database where you can import this file. Visit the cPanel dashboard and click on the icon 'MySQL databases'.

Scroll down to the "Add a user to the databaseAnd select your MySQL username, then select your newly created database.

CPanel will now grant full MySQL user privileges on your newly created database.

Now that your new database is ready, you can go ahead and open phpMyAdmin from your cPanel dashboard.

You must select your newly created database, then click on the button importer in the main menu.

Then click the Choose File button to select the .mysql file that you downloaded earlier and click the " Go " to continue.

PhpMyAdmin will download the file from your computer and import your database. You will see a success message when finished.
