WP Site Care recently created a new plugin WP Featherlight At WordPress.org. While there are hundreds of plugins that allow you to display lightboxes on WordPress, the latter turns out to be lighter than the others.

The plugin is contents in the project “ Featherlight jQuery Lightbox By Noel Bossart. This jQuery plugin was designed to be lighter and relies on 400 JavaScript lines and 100 CSS lines for almost 6kb when combined. This plugin works on Internet Explorer 8 (and higher), on most recent browsers and on mobile devices.

You will notice that the interface of this lightbox is responsive and adapts perfectly by taking into account the different dimensions of the images. It integrates Ajax technology and “iframes”.

WP Featherlight solves a large number of problems that WordPress users regularly pose with respect to other similar plugins namely: loading a heavy style that is difficult to crush (For customizations).

It was not easy to find a plugin that is easy to customize, but which is also light and flexible and, above all, does not make your blog slow and heavy.

This is how the founder of WP Site Care (Ryan Sullivan).

The WP Site Care team opted to create their own solution using the “Featherlight.js” plugin as support. The result is a fast, simple and minimalist plugin that allows you to display galleries on your blog.

The plugin is compatible with the WordPress and JetPack galleries. When you install it, there is nothing to configure (out-of-the-box). It will automatically display all images and galleries in a lightbox.

One of the recurring problems with this type of plugins is that they get their files uploaded to all pages of the blog, even in places where it is not needed. Which makes these a little heavier.

But the advantage with this plugin is that it is light and you will not really have to fear the impact on the speed of your blog.

That's it for this tutorial. I hope you have as much fun using this plugin as I did. Feel free to share this tutorial with your friends on your favorite social networks.
