The explosion of plugins generating well-designed shortcodes came late. These plugins easily showcase your posts or pages by making things like columns, tabs, price tables, special headers and much more look very professional.
Due to the late improvement of these plugins, other plugins that have not evolved over time have been abandoned. And even if they have added functionality to the "bootstrap" library (As for some below), they did not improve in other areas.
In this tutorial, rather than including a bunch of plugins that didn't do really well, we're going to limit ourselves to the ones that did.
But before you start, take the time to take a look at How to install a WordPress theme, How many plugins to install on WordPress.
Then let's get to work!
1. Easy Boostrap Shortcodes
the plugin Easy Bootstrap Shortcodes is very good for basic elements like columns, buttons, colored boxes, progress bars, to give different effects to images, etc ...
One of the best things about this plugin is that it has tons of icons you can put everywhere - on buttons, boxes, in headers, etc… you can easily change the size and color of the icons to get exactly the look you want. This plugin ideally has the buttons of the shortcode on the visual editor as a third row.
When one of these buttons is activated, you get a pop-up with many options (depending on the button, of course). When ordering is appropriate, there is often a large selection of attractive icons. And you can even change the color of these icons.
Here is a partial preview on the pop-up when inserting a button.

There are all kinds of shortcodes that you can insert. And of course, you can also combine them.
Here is a quick example of some shortcodes combined: a box (blue background), an icon for the title (color and size I wanted), then a button with another icon (as colorful as I wanted).
Here is a list of different shortcodes:

2. Ultimate shortcode
the plugin Shortcode Ultimate has a very impressive range of shortcodes to use, as well as an impressive number of icons to add to different elements. In addition to that, the ability to control shortcodes or icons (change size, color, position, etc.) is also impressive.
In short, it was the most impressive shortcode plugin I've seen. You start by clicking on the button placed on the visual editor.
You then get a list of possible shortcodes in the pop-up.
As you will no doubt notice, not only are there several (51 to be exact), you can also filter them by type from the top of the page or even search for the one you want.

In addition to the amount of shortcodes and control you have, it also allows you to preview your shortcode before inserting it.
Another good thing this plugin has is that it gives some examples of shortcodes as well as their code for those who have less experience.

3.Olevmedia
This plugin is really very basic compared to the previous two on many elements. At the same time it shines with a few elements that other plugins do not have.
For example, this plugin allows you to do certain styles for text areas very well. Notice the professionally placed icon in the middle. No other plugin I have seen allows you to do the same.

It has an animated counter that starts from zero until the number you inserted.
This plugin also allows you to do a lot of styling with buttons. You can also easily add recent posts to your content and your pleasant price list.
A downside of this plugin is that when it gives you icons to use, it only shows you a list of names and not the graphical representations of the icons. Some of them are quite easy to guess by their names. And others are not.
But even though you can find the icon by name, it doesn't mean you're going to like the look of it. But you will only know it after inserting and saving the project and preview the post.
Because some plugins perform so well, you might not adopt this one as your main plugin; However, nothing prevents you from using this one in addition to another.
Here is a list of the main shortcodes it offers.

4. CPO Shortcodes
This plugin has a number of basic shortcodes that you might expect to find, such as columns and boxes.
Having said that, it's a bit frustrating to work with. It often inserts shortcodes into your post without allowing you to make any choices, like choosing a color or a size.
How to use shortcodes in WordPress widgets is a must read.
The shortcodes themselves sometimes come with spaces for this sort of thing, but there's no explanation for all of that. It would be very easy to take this plugin off the list; However, it came with a few things that make it different. And so, for those items, take the time to review it.
One of these elements is the "background section" which goes put a colorful background of your choice throughout your page. Note that if you have a sidebar present it will cover it as well (which is not pleasant of course), if you only want to use it in full display on the pages.
Here is a preview of an item with a blue background.
It also has a shortcode for a team members section. It basically allows you to put a picture, a name, a title, some text that can then be linked to social networks.
It also includes the pretty pricing grid.

Overview
- Ultimate Shortcode: 5/5
- Easy Boostrap Shortcodes: 4/5
- Olevmedia: 3,5 / 5
- CPO Shortcodes: 2,5 / 5
In my opinion, the Ultimate Shortcode plugin was the best I had in my hands. Although some of the other plugins were very good, it really goes back and forth for what it offers.
However, if I was looking for shortcodes to combine with Shortcode Ultimate, I would choose to install Olevmedia as the complementary plugin.
