I guess you need to be a little tired of this same SEO tip that teaches you how to optimize your meta descriptions ... 🙂 Although meta descriptions are important, they will not have as much impact on your traffic as some other advanced methods of SEO.

If you plan to optimize your site for search engines, you should start to see things differently and implement some unusual, but no less essential, tactics.

So what are they? Let's discover 7 together.

Tactic # 1: Link Building

One of the ways to build standard back links is to use tools like Ahrefs to see who's making links to your competitors, then beg those sites to make you back links 🙂 This tactic is typically ineffectiveBecause your opponents are certainly as SEO.

Have you ever tried this with sites that rank from the 10e page and more on Google for the keywords you are looking for? What you will notice is that sites ranked at this level will be more likely to link to you. Their links will be a little more naturalthey are not purchased, and they come mostly from old sites that need to be updated more frequently. Remember that links from old sites have more strength than those from new sites!

By sending them e-mails and offering them links to more recent and valuable information, there will be more positive responses than negative ones. 🙂 In addition, if the site is classified on page 4 or less it is more likely to be the property of a company instead of an individual.

Tactic N ° 2: Infographics

Infographics are not animated. They still work ... but not as well as they did back then : )

A few years ago you could have produced any infographic on almost any subject, and she would have always had hundreds of shares on social media. Nowadays, you have to reassure yourself that the data in your infographic is really good, as are the images. The data and the design must really be of quality ...

The gifographies come, in addition to the improvement of the quality of the infographics, to give a little more flair to your montages. Animation arouses even more interest and stimulates reader engagement.

Tactic # 3: Meta tag optimization via AdWords

There are two major elements that determine how much traffic you end up getting from search engines. The first is the height of your ranking, and the second is your clickthrough rate.

Do you know how to increase your click-through rate? By testing new tags for your titles and new meta descriptions for your pages… right?

Although this is correct, it is really difficult to test these elements. It would be really better if you knew what worked, so you would just have to use them in your meta tags right?

Fortunately for you, there's a way to find out which text is the most appealing to increase your clickthrough rate, without having to do too many tests. Google AdWords has an algorithm that tends to position the ads that have the highest rates in first position.

Advertisements that get a significant number of clicks tend to be positioned higher in the sections that feature the sponsored pages. By taking a look at these ads, you can see the text that is used, and use similar texts in your meta tags to increase your clickthrough rate. (And There you go! :))

Tactic # 4: Searched Items

Google has created an algorithm for searched articles. Thanks to this one, the results of research now put this type of article in the spotlight.

What do you need to be on this list?

  1. Focus on writing really good content, and having at least 2 000 words
  2. Write about large-scale topics about your industry
  3. Make sure your code follows the same pattern as the articles that appear in the "searched articles" section of google search results, or that you use this plugin WordPress.

Once you've done that, give yourself a month around, and you should get a little more traffic from Google. If you do not get one, it will mean that your content is not deep enough.

* Articles that are around 1 words will not get much traffic from the in-depth articles section.

Tactic # 5: Relevance is the new ranking criterion

Google is really good at finding sites that build links that are unnatural. Instead of running after these links one after the other, they set up Penguin, an update focused on finding sites containing irrelevant return links.

Although most webmasters could counter this measure by buying links for their articles and writing Guest articles on topics related to their websites, the only problem with this tactic is that Google is looking at the overall theme of the site. Get a link to your site from marketing from a site that talks about marketing is much more effective than getting a link from an article that talks about marketing to a blog about business in general.

So, if you want to improve your ranking results, do not focus on the amount of links. Focus on quality. By building relevant links, you will have more chances to improve your ranking and maintain it over time.

Tactic # 6: More authors = more traffic

Here's a tactic that worked well when Google's fatherhood still existed. Who knows? Maybe they will come back! : )

When Google's authorship was new, content sites saw the traffic they got from search engines increase by up to 150%. Subsequently, since everyone had their photo next to their search results, content sites didn't see much increase in their traffic.

Although Google only showed one image per website, if you had multiple authors, you could see multiple faces near your lists.

It wasn't only good for your click-through rates increasing, but your social signals were following as well. It encouraged more sharing on Google+, which also affected your ranking.

Implementing this tactic consisted of:

  1. Consider adding multiple authors to your website
  2. Encourage authors to share content via their profiles on social networks (which should give a boost to the level of votes)

Tactic # 7: Build Broken Links via Wikipedia

What is difficult with this tactic is to find dead pages to which many people make connections. One of the easiest ways to find broken links is Wikipedia. If Wikipedia links to a page, there are many chances that hundreds of other sites will do the same.

How will you do this?

Run this query on Google:

Site: wikipedia.org insert keyword " broken link "

All you have to do is replace the phrase "insert keyword" with the keyword (s) that relate to your business. This will create a list of results from Wikipedia pages that relate to your site and contain dead links.

From these results, you can click on the Wikipedia page and search for the phrase "dead link" on the page.

Wikipedia seeks to replace these dead links with valid links. So what you're looking to do is see if these dead links point to a page that relates to your website.

You can check this by placing the URL on Archive.org

Assuming it is relevant, check on Ahrefs that at least 100 other sites are linking to this URL. By sending e-mails to these sites, 10 to 20% of these sites will return links to you. If you discover that this URL has only 10 backlinks, you will fiat too much work too little results. 🙂

Once you have created a corresponding page on your site, you will need to return to the Wikipedia article and click on the "Edit" button.

Now you can replace the dead link with the URL of the relevant page you created on your website. So you can redo the websites that you found on Ahrefs to see if they can replace the dead links to your site.

Here is an example :

Subject: You have an error on [insert website name]

Hey [insert their name],

i noticed that you have an error on this url, [insert url of page leading to dead link]. The anchor text link [insert anchor text of dead link] returns to a dead page.

If you don't mind, I found another similar page that you could replace it with. You can find it here… plus, the page is even good enough for Wikipedia to link to it.

Good luck in your work!

Kind regards.

[insert your name]
