You will lend me a little the different positions that the speaker of this story will occupy. Sometimes it will be me, sometimes Henri X, whose story we tell. Thank you !

It took 6 years to our dear Henry for Become a Professional Blogger. And 4 years and a half of those years, he spent them waiting.

For years he read blogs, bought books and watched videos about ordinary people quitting their jobs for "Live their dream". " I long languished with envy and bitterness as I saw friends twirling towards success, living out of their passions. "" What were they doing and I was not doing? »

Henri waited for a long time. He was waiting for someone to deign to point him, he waited for permission, waited to be good enough to start. You know what ? Well, permission never arrived! One day, however, everything changed.

Let Henri tell you for himself: "The conversation that changed my life"

A few years ago, a friend asked me an important question:

  • « What is your dream ? »
  • " I do not have any " did I answer
  • "Of course you have some. Everyone has a dream. "
  • "Ah, I do not have ... I live it, I believe"
  • " Really ? Hm ... » He had a long break "Because, in fact, I thought your dream was to be a writer"

At the very moment I heard these words, something was awakened in me; something that was present for a long time. "Well, uh, yeah ..." I swallowed a good amount of saliva, "I think I'd like to be a writer ... one day. But that will never happen »

I looked so sure of myself, so sure that at 28 years old, I already knew what to expect for the rest of my life. Shaking my head, my friend smiled. "Henri ... you do not have to want to be a writer ..."

So he said 9 words that changed my life: " You are a writer. You just need to write. »

It seems like it was all I needed. In fact, it's really all we need: believe that we are already what we want to be. So that's what I did. I started to call myself a writer, and I started practicing (it's very important to move forward).

Practice improves things

After this conversation, I started blogging, write articles free (despite my fear of rejection), and to share my work with the world. At first no one noticed (or everyone did not care), but it did not really bother me because in the end I was doing what I was doing: to write.

It was good to blog in a certain darkness, good to practice without the whole world observing. This is a concept well anchored in our world today: everyone wants to be famous now, but the path to mastery is rarely populous.

At the same time, my life was a daily routine. I was learning to be public. Put myself in front, force me to be creative. Every day, from 7 h, I had to publish something. Seven days a week, 365 days a year. And this expectation that I placed in me was just what I needed. It made me better, and helped me find my voice.

This year of intensive writing has taught me a lot more than the previous 6 years. The lesson I learned was this: the frequency, not the quantity, is what counts when we are on the path to excellence. Some days I was writing for 30 minutes, while others I was writing for 2 hours. But the amount of time does not count.

What matters is that I showed myself.

And that's what changed a hobby into a discipline, and eventually into a profession. An author said that when you take the time to work in your field every day, you focus good energy around you, and gain the favor of providence.

How I built an audience of 100 000 readers in 18 months

Initially, nobody knew me. I then interviewed people in my niche. I also made a list of bloggers, people I wanted to learn from, and who I would like to partner with. After a while, I became familiar with these people, some of those who invited me to write on their sites. However, there was no success overnight. It took me 6 months to have 75 registered.

But something surprising happened in those 6 months: the week I published a free eBook for bloggers, I had almost 1000 signups in 7 days! I have learned that there is more to be gained when you are generous.

In eight months, I got an audience of a thousand followers (through free articles and my free eBook). In addition, a publisher asked me to write a book. In 18 months, that thousand emails grew to 20.000, and I began to receive close to 100 on a regular basis. visiteurs unique for my blog each month. I wasn't really making any money, but I firmly believed that if I helped people, I would find a way to make money.

From a partial project to a full-time job

The following year, my wife and I were waiting for our first child, and we were not sure that we would really get away with it. She wanted to stay home to educate our child, and with my only salary it was just impossible.

Someone once told me thatonce we reached 10.000 registered, we had a six-figure turnover. I decided to give this idea a chance by creating an e-book in a few days.

I sent an email to the people registered on my site, telling them that I was offering the e-book at a promotional price. With this first e-book, I made around 1500 euros in one weekend. At that time, that was about half of my monthly salary. I could not believe it.

The following month, I added a affiliate program, and I got to make a few hundred dollars a month doing it. The secondary income was really good, but I knew I had to raise.

My second eBook, which was just a rewritten version of the first, made 12000 Euros in six months. After that, I knew there was something hidden in my blog, a real gold mine. I only had to find it. Later this year, I launched an online course. I started at a reduced price, and I raised this one with each new class. Every time I started a course, I got more students than in the previous class.

At the end of my second year of blogging, my wife could stay home to take care of our son. We were surprised how much we had not just replaced our revenues, but we had tripled them too.

What does it cost

Although I have read all the success stories and heard all the tricks. I didn't realize how much work it could take to build a popular blog. My first year of blogging, I wrote about 300 blog posts, and 100 Guest articles for other sites as well. To do this, I had to get up at 5 every morning, and stay awake until after midnight. I dropped most of my hobbies and focused all my free time on writing.

It was not easy, but I was dedicated to my dream. Having spent so many years in frustration, not wanting to do this job, I was willing to invest the necessary time even if it would take years to achieve the results I wanted.

People often ask me what exactly I did, they ask me " trick Which made all the difference for my blog. And of course, I can not say that there is only one, because it's a whole process, a whole built of things that I did, and that worked.

There is no one strategy that can help you reach your dream. There is no single experience or unique choice that will guide you to your great feat. Well, maybe there is one: Never give up !

Yes, never give up. Go forward. Never stop.

Learn from your mistakes, but don't give up on your dream. You can do it, you will do it, only if you don't give up. This is what most bloggers and writers lack. Every great story I read about legendary entrepreneurs was built on failure, until a singular moment when everything has changed.

What made the difference? Why do people like JK Rowling and others become world famous, while many others will never be? And what can ordinary people like you and me do to live extraordinary lives?

Never give up !

If I could group everything into 3 steps, here is what you need to know:

1. Be aware of what you really are (writer, entrepreneur, blogger, etc.)

2. Dedicate yourself to the process. Do uncomfortable things, befriend people of influence, and keep going until you are noticed.

3. Stay on course. When it's hard and it's scary, and no one thinks you'll get there, do not give up. Persevere. In the end, we will all be gathered around the table of successful people, sharing our common stories, but it will only happen if you do not give up.

So, what are you saying? It is high time for you to pursue your dreams, right? I bet that's the case!
