How To Monetize A Blog And Make Money?

About three years ago, I tried to monetize ThierryBertrand.com. My goal was to earn at least 2000 Euros per month for a start, and then go to 10000 € per month. But as you can probably guess, things did not work out as planned.

I encountered many difficulties and suffered many failures. Fortunately, I learned from my many failures. Over time, I realized that The most important thing is not to know how much money you want to earn through monetization of your blog, what matters is to know:

  • how to gain
  • what tools to use
  • which skill to develop
  • what form of monetization to choose

Because you also certainly want to earn money from your blog, here are some lessons that will definitely inspire you.

Lesson #1: Recurring revenue is the best form of monetization
For many reasons, most bloggers who want to monetize their blogs neglect this source of revenue. What matters is to make a lot of money in one go. But the big problem with this approach is that the income is not at all recurrent.

The creation of a monthly subscription program is your only change to guarantee you a monthly income. This is the best form of monetization, the one that will allow you to have a monthly salary like any good official. Do not dream either because every month, some subscribers will unsubscribe. But do not worry about that because every month too, many other people will replace them.

If your training is of excellent quality, you can expect to see your subscriber list grow every month. This means that your income will also increase every month.

But before reaching this stage, I first had to:

  • identify the needs of my target audience
  • offer useful content to my blog
  • create a training spread over several weeks
  • make videos
  • Create a list of prospects
  • Create an affiliate program and contact partners
  • create a member area (Thanks to my team of BlogPasCher)
  • And much more…

So don't think it will be easy. Just believe it's possible. The most important thing is to have a good product, good tools and a strategy marketing effective.

Lesson #2: Give value to each email address acquired
At first, I did not realize the value of an email address. For me, it was just a contact that had to send new promotions at any time. In the end, I found myself with many unsubscribe and a list of more 2000 prospects who hardly read my messages anymore.

The monetization of a blog starts with its optimization, and this optimization aims to improve the conversion rate which in turn is not limited to the simple capture of an email address. The process is much more and that I did not understand at the time.

Lesson #3: price does not affect sales
If you create a monthly membership program, you'll quickly realize that price doesn't really impact purchasing decisions. Some people won't like your training and will request a refund.

However, those who will like it will be ready to pay the right price to continue to follow it. In addition to many other important elements, know that what matters is the value of your product. In order for your prospects to subscribe, you must present them the advantages on your sales page, so that they remain subscribed, you must offer them information that allows them to move quickly and efficiently in their project.

So do not be afraid to raise your prices if you find that what you provide to your members as information is very valuable. Just remember to warn them before.

Lesson #4: Do not be afraid to change things
Most articles published on many blogs are more the result of experiences of other bloggers than those who publish them. In other words, most bloggers write articles about what they read and understand somewhere on the internet, not what they have experienced themselves.

Always keep in mind that only leaders earn a lot of money on the internet. And if you look closely, you will notice that every leader in your niche owes its popularity to the value it has brought. They are all (or almost) at the origin of a change, an innovation or a change of mentalities.

But to change things and become a leader, you must first understand the needs of your niche, do many experiments and get your results. Before you hope to change things, you must first understand what needs to change and why it is necessary.

Lesson #5: Promote your members area
In terms of promotion, I have always been shy. I have rarely relaunched my prospects when I should. Why create blogger training if I can not promote it from time to time?

In addition to not creating a monthly subscription program, I believe this is my second biggest mistake.

Lesson #6: shares have more values words
When you survey your prospect's interest in your future product or service, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the number of people who will tell you it's a good idea and eagerly awaiting its release for the next year. order.

However, once it goes live, they will be very few to order it. When it comes to monetization, you only have to rely on the acts. Do not really pay attention to the promises of your prospects.

As you can see, monetizing a blog is not always as easy as it is. It's not enough just to have a product to sell. You will make a lot of mistakes and you will experience failure. However, if you learn from the failures of others, you will certainly do less.
