For 2 days now, we have been exploring together the power of copywriting, and what it can do for you. We're going to continue today by offering you some tips that you can use on your blog to convert better.

Keep in mind that success will not come on the first try, you will have to forge a technique that must be combined with practice to get there. If you need to know what is the power of copywriting, I invite you to read our previous tutorial on this subject.

So we are going in this tutorial to tell you about 3 tricks (tips) that you can apply on your WordPress blog.

1 - Mastering the art of the title: The 4 U rule

This is a tip I am sure you have already observed during your browsing on various blog, and probably you have noticed its power.

Now, while you've probably heard or read about how important your headline is, here's one thing most top copywriters keep in mind every time they create a headline: The Rule of 4 U.

  • Create a feeling ofEmergency in your title.
  • Give your reader something Only to read.
  • Is there anythingUseful you can relay?
  • Where possible, you must be Incredibly -specific.

Your title doesn't have to match all of these rules every time, but it should meet at least one. Of course, like on a blog post, you won't want to forget about SEO factors like keywords in your title, but don't make the mistake of creating a keyword rich title that is super boring either.

2 - No one cares about you, so avoid talking about yourself

Have you ever met someone who has always found a way to brag about themselves and is convinced of what they say?

It's boring, isn't it? No one likes being around someone who just talks about themselves and doesn't care about anyone.

But when some people decide to embark on an online adventure with starting a business or blog, many think they have to brag about their quality. You will often find sites that sell a product or service with a message similar to this:

«We at ABC Inc. are a leading company in this or that community that specializes in creating awesome things for people. "

Where is the focus of this sentence? It's about society, is not it? Well, guess what?

Nobody cares. No one cares how amazing and fantastic your business can be. The only thing a reader or potential customer is looking for, that's what they can do with you.

Have a look on " CoSchedule ", for example. Do you see their title?

coschedule-wordpress

Even though it is in English, this title means:

Plan awesome content. A considerable gain in time.

Instead of being a title similar to this: " CoSchedule is a WordPress Plugin amazing that gives people the ability to post to an article on social media…” (blah, blah, blech!), They simplify their message and focus on one thing that everyone else wants to avoid losing:

Time.

If you are writing blog posts for your website about a certain product or creating a landing page, you should not focus on how good your product is. Remember, people do not care about that.

Instead, you need to focus on something that they are looking for. Better yet, target a desire " like to work less and make more ».

I know that these two points are focused on the headlines, but this idea can apply in more than one way.

Are you writing a product description for your online store? So remember to focus on what your client is looking for. For example, if you write something like " cooking tools Avoid boring details like the material they use, etc.

On the contrary, you could write about how your client can become the amazing host of the party that makes her jealous mother-in-law jealous through cooking that can be done faster.

Do you notice how to change the focus of your title can make your better title?

You can take this idea and apply it to pretty much anything you write about.

3 - Write for one person

You have probably heard of this idea before. Even if it seems counter-intuitive to write to one person, it can be very effective.

Just think about how easy it is for you to accidentally sell something to your friends and family when they start asking you about something you just bought and you start talking about what you love about this new product and start convincing them that they should get it too.

Why is it effective?

  • You do not make an effort to sell
  • You know the person you are talking to, so we can say things in this way are easily understood.
  • When it comes to online writing, you can do the same thing by creating a character that represents the majority of your online audience, and then reduce that to a unique mental entity that you can talk to.

Here's how you can do this. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What is the average age of your audience? (Are they older or younger?)
  • Are they mostly men or women?
  • Where in the world are they located? (You can find general answers to these 3 questions with Google Analytics if you have it installed on your site.)
  • What kind of fears do you think they have or what are they facing?
  • If you talk to someone in your audience face-to-face, why are these people talking to you and what will you say if they ask what your content is about?

Then give your new character a name. Give him blue eyes, glasses, and a weird personality if that helps.

Now that you have this character all compiled, hold on to him and refer to him when you are about to have ideas for content. This will give your content a strong and unique voice and help you write an amazing copy that better converts what you never thought.

That's it for these tips. What do you think ? Do not hesitate to share your opinion in the comments.
