What is a blog?

While I was about to publish one of my articles on Yahoo Buzz earlier, I came across a definition that I allow myself to share with you. Because many people get into blogging without really knowing what a blog is.

If you have never installed WordPress, discover How to Install a WordPress Blog in 7 Steps  et How to search, install and activate a WordPress theme on your blog

I will write a very comprehensive article on the subject very soon. In the meantime here is the definition that Yahoo gives to the blog.

What is a blog

The term "Blog" is the abbreviation of "Web log" (literally, "newspaper on the web"). It is a personal space in which you can publish the content of your choice: small and large events of your daily existence, political opinions (in moderation ...), your last exotic trip, your favorite recipes, the music you listen right now - whatever you want to talk about.

What is a wordpress blog 1

A blog is generally made up of several articles. You can give each of your articles a separate title. Articles are always accompanied by their date and time of publication. A blog always displays the last article first; its readers can scroll down to read older articles. In a way, a blog is therefore presented as a personal journal whose chronological order would be reversed.

You can share it with your friends and relatives. Nothing could be easier than telling your adventures around the world, and… no need for a stamp! You can even add photos and videos. Your friends can leave comments, and you'll stay in touch with your connections wherever you are.

If blogs are just websites, then what makes them so different. Personally, I believe there are three main areas that differentiate a blog from a classic website.

What is a wordpress blog 3

1. The content - Blogs are generally updated more than traditional websites. Many are updated several times a day, allowing visitors to come back more often. In addition, content is usually presented in reverse chronological order, from top to bottom, and from most recent (top) to oldest (bottom).

2. The flow - as a traditional website, the blog is readable on a browser, however, it is also possible through appropriate software to read its content without having to visit the blog itself.

3. The interaction - the style of a blog is very different from that of a website. Here there are more conversations and therefore interaction, and it is easier to create a community. Unlike a purely informational or traditional news website, blogs allow their authors to communicate directly with their audience.

Responses or opinions are given here in the form of comments. In addition to blogging, it is also possible to blog to blog. It is enough to leave an interesting comment on another blog so that the visitors of this one also come to visit you…
