You have certainly heard about ebooks and especially because most of the biggest entrepreneurs on the internet have written at least.

Which normally should lead you to ask yourself the following question: Why do they do it? In other words, what are the main reasons behind writing and publishing their ebooks?

To tell the truth, the reasons are various and depend on the objectives of each one. Here are some of them.

1. Being your own publisher - with the ebook, you can become an author and publish as many books as you want on your own without going through the uncertainty and long process of traditional publishing. Publishing as we know it is changing rapidly and publishing houses no longer have the same monopoly as before.

2. Generate income - the vast majority of people write ebooks to make money. I know famous authors who have generated millions of dollars from the sale of their digital books (ebooks) alone. You too can write an ebook that you will sell on your own website or blog and have the money directly delivered to your bank account. You aren't necessarily going to make that much money with your first book, but it's a great opportunity to grab while there is still time.

3. The reputation – many web entrepreneurs write ebooks in order to increase their reputation. They use ebooks to promote their online identity.

4. Share knowledge - Not everyone wants to sell their book. I have several and I do not sell them all. There are some that I offer free of charge. You can always write a book that you will offer free to your visitors to encourage them to subscribe to your list of subscribers or to create a viral marketing that will allow you to increase the traffic on your blog or on a specific page .

5. It's fast, easy and inexpensive to produce and potentially more profitable - no need to register on the waiting list of your (traditional) publisher. Thanks to the internet, you just need a computer to write and publish your ebook whenever you want. In addition, you can reach a larger audience. Anyone can do it, just learn.

6. membership – the ebook is also used for affiliate marketing. Many affiliates use ebooks to promote affiliated products and/or services.

As you can see, there is always a clear goal behind writing each ebook.

So, should you write yours?
My answer is YES. Whatever the reason, writing an ebook can only benefit you. However, I would like you to keep these two realities in mind:

1. Even if it's not particularly complicated, writing and editing an ebook takes time, work, and minimal knowledge about your ebook.

2. Sell an ebook is not as easy as it seems. You are going to have to rely on many factors such as credibility, traffic, creating an affiliate program and much more.

There is nothing to be afraid of. If others have done it, then you can too. You just have to learn how.
