Here is already 7 years that I blog and since then my blog has evolved considerably.

Like many, I made mistakes and also learned a lot. But as I say very often, the most important is above all what does not work.

It is moreover on the basis of this principle that I decided to share some of my mistakes with you… hope that you do not fall into the same traps.

    1. I have not created links to my own articles

I have published many articles on article directories (which I do not advise you to do), on other blogs as well as on social networks.
I did this without ever adding links to some of my blog posts.

Because of this error, I received very few visiteurs on my blog thanks to this tactic.

It's up to you Promote your blog. If you don't do it right, no one else will. By not linking your own articles, you are just giving your readers an excuse to leave your site as quickly as possible.

    2. I sold an outbound link to another site

There are many ways to generate income from blogging, but selling outbound links is not one of them.

Many sites promote selling outbound links as a great way to monetize his blog. Personally, I think this is bad advice.

Why?

Well, because selling outbound links is a sure way to get banned from Google. Another danger that I discovered when I sold outbound links was that other sites would sell the same link, resulting in the reduction in the value of the link.

I also realized that the site I linked had a dozen pages of bad reviews. I quickly removed the link and the buyer was refunded!

    3. I spam social networks with links

Many experts will tell you to post your articles on social media if you want them to be more shared. I posted all of my articles on social media before I realized the " trick"

The " trick " The " trick Is that no one will engage and share your content if you yourself are not active on these networks. For many of you this is no surprise because after hours they know what I'm talking about.

You need to get involved and comment on other people's posts, posting not only your own links but a link to other people's posts.

    4. I posted random affiliate ads all over my site

For a while I was disillusioned with affiliate programs. I placed an ad on my site, but no one clicked on it. Then one day, I understood why I was on the wrong track.

Post an ad in the blog header is just good for the eyes. Almost nobody clicks on it.

With time, and a lot of testing, I realized that the most important thing was not to publish just any ad on my site ... for more efficiency, I had to add targeted ads. So I added ads related to the content of my blog. Today I am getting a good return on my investment.

I also found that Amazon links don't work when sporadically splashed around the site. If you navigate to content and write articles that relate to the topics on Amazon without selling the topic too much, then people will click on it and buy products.

    5. I rarely published on my blog

This is a big mistake that I am no longer ready to commit. I was posting once a week and very often, once every two weeks. And next I dreamed of hundreds of visiteurs on my blog. Believe me, this is simply unrealistic.

Over time, I realized that you had to publish at least one article per day and publish it at the same time. In fact, I recommend this excellent article to you which will open your eyes on the subject: How many articles should you post on your blog and why?

Conclusion

Be careful when you come across advice on blog monetization or others that tell you how to create and develop a blog to success in a very short time. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

These 5 mistakes have helped me become a better blogger. I've learned that if I write quality content and build relationships with other people in my niche, my blog will grow naturally. And he did.

I'd like to know… what were your big blogging blunders and what did you learn?
