The tips on how to become a "successful blogger" are so numerous and common online that it starts to get boring. I would love to write another article on this topic though, I know that wouldn't be a great idea.

So why not take a different approach and consider the seven habits of ineffective bloggers instead? It would not hurt right? Because to become better you also have to learn to recognize what not to do.

If you think this is a joke, it isn't. Look in the blogosphere, I'm sure you will find tons of bloggers that fit this description perfectly. In fact, I bet you're at least guilty of one or two of these habits. (I know I am).

1 habit. Do not read before posting
This is the first sin of bloggers. I know that writing a good article takes time. You have to do your research, prepare resources, and finally write using a number of relevant links while keeping all the SEO optimizations in mind… there really is a lot to do.

In all this commotion, it's easy to forget one simple thing: proofreading. The point is, proofreading is one of the most important phases of article design. Without her, you do not use the potential of your article effectively. Some readers will simply be discouraged by any grammatical mistakes you have made.

My advice is: proofread your articles at least once.

Additional advice: There is another tip I want to share with you. I've found that I get much better results when it comes to the quality of my writing if I write an article one day, and edit and reread it the next.

2 habit. No networking
Did you know that 80% of the success of your blog depends on the people you know, not the content you write? You did not know it ? Well I know it thanks to the study I carried out on the subject.

Whatever the statistics, I'm sure the benefits of reaching out to your fellow bloggers are pretty clear to you. Building a successful site is always easier if you have someone you can contact for help, or for a joint venture proposal.

Treat your blog like a business. The more quality business partners you have, the better. Networking in the blogosphere is not even difficult. It all starts with a simple email that says " Hi ".

3 habit. Do not use offline blogging tools
These days, I am thoroughly on the offline blogging tools. For example, you can use Windows Live Writer . What's great about this tool is that it allows you to create an optimized article offline and then send it to any WordPress blog that you want.

Let's face it: you will not have internet access at all times. Maybe you are staying at a cheap hotel, or visiting your family on the weekend or some other scenario. If you want to be efficient, you have to have a way to create an article, even if you are offline.

I know the standard way to do this is through Microsoft Word or some other word processing software, but they're not very good at delivering WordPress formatting ready. Windows Live Writer is good at this. Give it a chance.

4 habit. Do not stay on topic
Being off topic makes you very ineffective. You have to keep in mind that your readers are coming to your site to read something very specific in terms of information. They saw a title or description on the search engines, and clicked on it.

Now, if you decide to change the topic of the article right in the middle, they'll just go away. Ultimately, this practice will make you really ineffective at writing about the things you really want to talk about.

You will still be distracted at some point and talk about something else. This is something you really need to be wary of. The simplest advice is this: If you fail to stay on topic, your readers will be confused and walk away… so stay the course.

5 habit. Do not promote your articles
write and publish an article is usually half the job. The quality of an article is not enough to make it popular. It also needs to be promoted.

And by promotion, I'm not necessarily talking about spending money on ads in order to reach investors. You must share it on social networks and send it to your subscribers by email.

Also, this is where your network of contacts comes into play again. (mentioned above). If you have friends in the blogosphere, you can let them know whenever you post something really useful.

6 habit. Do not write free messages
Each of the sites you know has become popular thanks to other websites. There isn't a single site that has become popular on its own (no, not even Google or Facebook).

The key to success is to post on other sites. There are two possibilities :

   1. What is difficult is to do something remarkable and to be mentioned naturally.

   2. The easiest way is to write an article and offer it for free in exchange for a link.

I can't stress this enough, guest blogging is the cheapest way (And best) to build your brand online. If you think that you don't need to write a free article then you are not using your real potential as a blogger.

7 habit. Do not do SEO
I know some people say that the SEO is dying. Above all, this attitude is a result of recent updates like Penguin (from Google), which killed a number of legitimate websites and online businesses just because they were building quality backlinks. (yes, you read well, of quality).

This whole situation makes SEO much more difficult, but that does not mean you have to give up completely. The fact is that something is not going to change anytime soon: Google will remain the main supplier of online traffic, and if you want to get some of this traffic, know that you will have to learn how to be up to date with SEO best practices and put them into practice on your blog.
