Whether you blog for profit, advertising, or for fun, the basic building blocks for success are the same. Success can be defined as "The accomplishment of an objective or a goal, or to have gained popularity, profit, or distinction. " (Google Dictionary)

Here are ten essential words that you should consider as a blogger because they reflect the values you need to succeed on the internet and in life.

1. Goal
A goal is "The reason why something is done or created, or for which something exists. " (Google Dictionary)

So why blogging yourself or do you start a blog? Your goal should be to determine the style of your blog, your writing style, the frequency of your articles and the subject of your articles. It's important that you define your goal from the start and make sure that your (blog) design and content match that purpose.

The theme, the presentation, the number of ads and the type of content will all come from your goal, and they will set the tone you want. That does not mean you have to take all of this too seriously if you just blog for fun, but that means that you shouldn't fill your pages with ads if your goal isn't to make money blogging.

If you're blogging on a specific topic, your purpose will be pretty clear and your content very focused. However, if like me, you started blogging without specific goals, then you might realize that you need to be more flexible and allow your goal to evolve and mature.

I began by seeking to bring together the Top 10 articles on all kinds of topics, but now my focus is on social media, especially blogging and Twitter. You don't have to be too rigid. Follow your instincts and follow your flowif you feel that it might be the best way for you to discover your purpose.

2. Quality
Quality is “The standard of something, measured against other things of the same kind, the degree of excellence of something. " (Google Dictionary)

Good quality content is the foundation of all major blogs. It's easy to say, but How do you measure quality, and how can you make sure your content reaches the desired standard?

This is a very subjective question, but I will say that an article should be able to inform, educate, entertain or entertain. Any of these proposals is a fundamental requirement. To have more than one is desirable; to have the four is heavenly!

Your content must be original. Too often it can happen to visit a blog that seems to have some epic content, but on closer inspection is a copy or excerpt of something already published elsewhere.

Do not focus only on the quality of the content, but on the quality of the presentation as well. Poor spelling and bad grammar can ruin the best articles. You should always check and proofread your content to make sure it looks as good as possible. Take pride in what you do and make sure it embodies the best quality in every way.

3. Patience
Patience is a “Ability or willingness to suppress agitation or annoyance in the face of delays. " (Dictionary.com)

This is essential in blogging! It can take a considerable amount of time before your blog is noticed, or for the edits you have made to show results. Sometimes you can make changes: like improved SEO, new sharing options, or different types of advertising, and become frustrated when you do not see the results overnight.

It takes time for changes to take effect, especially with the results and rankings of search engines, then be prepared to let things happen for a while before judging the results.

Too many changes in a period of time can also annoy regular visitors. So, try to be a turtle and not a hare: take enough time to see the benefits of any positive changes you make to your blog.

4. Determination
The determination is "A resolute movement towards an object or an end. " (Dictionary.com)

You definitely need to be determined to start a blog! Well, if you're trying to make money from your blog, or using it as part of your marketing strategy for a business, you most definitely need to be determined. The blog should be kept up to date and monitored to see how its results are progressing. It requires time as well as commitment.

But even if you blog just for the sake of it, you need to be determined to keep it up for the long haul.

There are so many distractions in the "real" life. I know from my own experience that blogging can sometimes seem like a chore, and the blog can take a secondary place as life gets back on top.

But you must be determined to go back again to start writing and writing the next article, because a neglected blog will eventually wither away.

5. Trust
Trust is the "Belief in oneself and one's power or abilities." (Dictionary.com)

Self-confidence is a quality that is generally required for success in any area of life, and blogging is no different. Just getting into this at first takes courage and self-confidence, and even the most seasoned bloggers can sometimes feel the doubt in them as their finger hovers over the "Publish" button.

Every blogger starts from the same place, and the key to building that trust is in the first place, to take action to begin, then learn and grow from there.

You can not think of yourself as the best author or as someone who is very tech-savvy, but looking at what other bloggers are doing, taking advantage of the best of resources amazing availableand by trying new things to grow, your confidence will grow.

However, you must be prepared for failure and learn from the inevitable mistakes you are about to make. The blogger who hasn't made a mistake yet may feel confident, but that confidence can be misplaced and lead to an overkill disaster.

A better way to grow as a confident blogger is to take risks, be prepared for failure, and gain experience when it happens.

6. Integrity
Integrity is “Adherence to moral and ethical principles, solid moral character; honesty " (Dictionary.com)

I love that a post has a little spice, as much as 3rd person humor, but as bloggers we need to know where the lines are, both moral and ethical, and then act on it. What is considered offensive is in many ways "In the eyes of the one who looks". However, the blogger should be careful before starting to make surprises to readers.

For example, a visitor to an erotic review site may know what to expect, but if he comes across resources explicit on a web design blog, he might be a little surprised. Likewise, I see bloggers using offensive language and going overboard with it, but most would agree that it has to be used sparingly, and in the right context to be acceptable.

Do you have any ads or affiliate links on your blog? If so, do you make sure that you are a winner and that you are not promoting products and services that most of your readers would not approve of? To preserve our reputation as bloggers, it is essential to make sure that you are providing the right information and that you are happy with your ads and promotions.

We all hate seeing our work copied elsewhere or images used without permission, so do not do it to others. As well, we should all try to maintain a good level and do something against plagiarism when it happens.

We all have a responsibility as bloggers to act with integrity and honesty to maintain our reputation. If we don't, then we are unlikely to be successful.

7. Communication
La definition communication is: "Give or exchange thoughts, feelings, information". (Dictionary.com)

It is one of the most important words for a blogger. Networking sharing, commenting, reacting to comments, and connecting and interacting with others are essential ingredients of the blogging experience.

There are two aspects to this question. The first relates to your own blog and the second to your own actions. A successful blogger should make sure that it is easy for readers to comment and share their articles. There is an endless amount of (often conflicting) advice on how best to accomplish this goal, so do your research, experiment, and find what works best for you.

Go on an adventure in the big, the huge online world. Communicate with others on any platform that works for you. But don't just use it as a way to to make known, promote other people too. Share great content from other bloggers, comments on their work, and interact with them.

Doing it well means not only that you will have more chance of success in blogging, but that your experience will be enriched and blogging will be just more fun.

8. Personality
The personality is “The essential character of a person. "

A great quality of any successful blogger is that they allow their personality to shine through in everything they do. Don't hide behind a logo to take a look and show your face.

Add your image to your "about" page. People will bond with you as a real person, rather than as a legal or anonymous person. Let your own personality stand out in your writing and in what you write about.

People relate to real people. Showing your personality to the world will be beneficial when you log out and interact with your favorite social networks. (and in the real world).

9. Consistency
Consistency refers to the "Firm adherence to the same principles, the same way, the same form, etc." " (Dictionary.com)

In my early days of blogging, I tended to make some changes in the design and layout of my blog.

As I found my bearings and decided what would work best for me. I progressed from a "Blogger" blog to a free WordPress theme. I then went through two premium themes until I settled on my current blog layout.

I would say it didn't matter too much at first, as I only had very few visitors. But it is important as your blog grows to create consistency, so that your readers are comfortable visiting your space and know, to some extent, what they need expect from you.

I'm not just talking about consistency in design and layout, but also in the content and frequency of publication.

You don't have to post every hour of the day, but try to achieve consistency in style and frequency of posting so that people get used to seeing you around. Consistency in the topics you cover is a bit more difficult, but is still very important if you are blogging in a niche.

My readers are therefore already used to it. However, if your blog is about cooking, for example, and all of a sudden an article about "car maintenance" pops up, your readers may be wondering what you are doing.

10. Flexibility
Flexibility is “Characterized by an active ability to adapt to new, different, or changing requirements. " (Merriam-Webster.com)

While I have just sung the praises of steadfastness and patience, flexibility may seem like a strange word to add, but flexibility is vital for successful bloggers. It is recognize when something isn't working and have the courage to make changes to try and improve what you are doing to meet your goals.

The world of social networks evolves and develops around your blog, so you must be ready to be flexible. For example, you should be prepared to make changes to your sharing options, or to incorporate a new development that will benefit not only you but also your readers.

The key, however, is to try to maintain consistency by not making too many changes at once, and to be patient enough to allow the changes to take effect. These three key words: flexibility, consistency and patience are most certainly linked. You must keep them all in mind.

What keywords do you think a good blogger should focus on? Have I included a few that you don't find important? Are there others that I left out? Let me know in the comments.
